How do you wear your scapular?

karin

So do you wear your scapular underneath your clothes or on top of them?

You can PM me your address if you want...I have an extra one that's kinda collecting dust right now.

And don't worry about paying for it, I got it in the free goodybag section of a Catholic gift shop. ;)

is it required to be enrolled by a priest into the scapular in order to properly wear it?

When I have one I wear it under my shirt. I need to get a new one because I lost my old one months ago when I was visiting friends. The one I get is either a Children's Scapular, or you can find it listed as "The World's Tiniest Scapular" or something to that effect. The wool tabs are smaller than a postage stamp. :)

well being enrolled places you into the Confraternity of Mount Carmel (no paperwork needed or anything like that) which allows you to share in the prayers and devotions of others enrolled... so if you want that then the answer is yes

if you wish to carry a devotion to Mary with the Scapular beforehand or without that.. then that is acceptable but the above would not apply

Well Both of these guys could be, just one is for sure:

You see, Monastics were the first to wear scapulars

Scapulars for the laity, for the sake of humility and proper pennance, should be concealed.

Well, in a way yes... you have to wear the scapular always, you need to go to Mass every sunday, and for the last rule, you have 3 options... option 1: Pray/Recite the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Like Liturgy of the hours) option 2: Fast on Saturdays and Wednesday's in honor of OUr Lady option 3: Pray the Rosary every day :) The last 2 choices are with the permission of a priest, so talk to a priest about it :)

Mary does look over anyone who wears her Scapular with any type of devotion :)

I do believe that as of right now the Liturgy of the Hours is accepted in place of the Little Office. :) I have about 6 books for the Liturgy of the Hours (including the Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary) on my shelf.
