Apotheoun
If a person feels damnably guilty for obedience to hat *appears* to be the Church's official stance on ____________, is that person still bound to obey?
Firstly, it is necessary to determine what the Church actually teaches on a specific topic; and secondly, it should always be remembered that a man's feelings on a particular issue may be mistaken, and so he must govern his passions by the proper use of reason. As far as obedience to the Church's Magisterium is concerned, a man is required to give an assent of faith to teachings that have been definitively proposed by either the Ordinary or the Extraordinary Magisterium, while giving a religious submission of intellect and will to the teachings proposed by the Authentic Magisterium. Consequently, dissent from the Magisterium is never a valid option.
