drewmeister2
What does the Church teach on downloading music off of the internet without paying, even though prices for CD's may be high? Is it considered sinful? Thank you for your help! Edited December 23, 2004 by drewmeister2
Pio Nono
JMJ 12/24 - Fourth Friday of Advent drewmeister2, Without express permission given by the owner of the actual music (given to yourself or someone else), it is immoral to download music illegally off of the internet. There is a temptation, due to high CD prices, to say that the unjust pricing of the record companies justifies this type of theft. However, if the Robin Hood mentality is going to apply, one has to give the music away to those who have no access to it. Remember, Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor, he didn't steal from the rich and keep for himself. But, since stealing is wrong, it can't be justified. Hope this helps.
