Dave
if i thank the catholic church for all the blessings of christmas, then i'm also going to blame it for what it has allowed the world to make it....a secular heap of garbage.
The Catholic Church has allowed nothing of the sort. It's always exhorted everyone to keep the Christ in Christmas, and it's not the Church's fault if there are those who choose not to listen to what it says. Benedict
And as has already been pointed out, one of the greatest tools for the secularization of Christmas, namely Santa Claus, was invented by Protestants and embraced by the non-religious. Quietfire
Is it me or are the arguements against the Church getting more and more lame? I mean, dont get me wrong. I dont mean to insult anyone. Everyone should know by now that Christ Mass is a Catholic celebration of the birth of Christ. littleflower+JMJ
im sorry--but thats ridiculous to say the Catholic Church has made it into a secular heap of garbage. i didn't know they listened to the Catholic Church so much! lol most of the times we're sadly ignored by the secular world...... -_- you really need to come hear my priest give a sermon laddy.....especially during this season us Catholics spend 4 weeks preparing for Christ's coming....its called the Season of Advent where the Whole CHurch is in a state of waiting, meditiating, praying, (many times fasting, etc) and preparing to meet Our Lord! Pax christi <>< and Merry Christmas! (<---- Saint Nicholas!) oh yeah and Christmas isn't just for a day in the Church! it continues on till the Ephiphany! and NOT just for aday like Sears and JCPenny's--thats right its okay to keep those christmas lights up JESUS is the REASON for the SEASON!! :cheer:

Quietfire
I love Epiphany! I found out what it meant like 2 years ago. (yeah, real sad huh?) and one of my favorite things is moving the wise men closer to the child Jesus in the manger scene. I keep asking them..."Do you see what I see?" Quietfire
I have a 30 piece Nativity that takes up a bit of room. It took me 3 months to paint it by hand and I spent at least 3 hours a day on it. So when I ask the wise men "Do you see what I see", I know they dont cause they have quite a bit of ground to cover. They always find Christ on Epiphany though, without fail.

We shouldn't thank Him for free will! We should curse free will! We should all be robots! Life would be so much more worth living that way! Mulls, you know better than this. I'd expect something like this out of one of the noobs that don't seem to have any respect for anything religious, but not out of you! You're better than this. Benedict
ay, misreading and not understanding....
Ay, posting several words and failing to form a cogent sentence while still expecting others to perceive one's meaning. When someone shows that they have not grasped your point, the correct response is to elaborate and rephrase said point. Benefit of the doubt states that the listener is not ignorant but the point was poorly stated.
mulls
notice my use of the word "WORLD" in my statement. it's really not as offensive as you all would like to make it out to be. thanks.
ironmonk
So, we can conclude that Mulls knows the Catholic Church is the authority, and is mad because the Church allowed the world to twist the meaning of Christ Mass. My bro mulls... the Catholic Church is the authority as in teacher, not as in ruler. God Bless & Merry Christ Mass! ironmonk
