I have like ten outfits like that in different colors.
I love them.
They are so comfortable and pretty.
Very modest too.

I hacked my wedding dress apart.
I had them detach the train and make a separate train, cause I didnt want to haul that thing around all night on my butt. Plus I got a extra long train for the effort.
It had a high neck and pouffy arms so I left the high neck but toned down the pouffy arms. I was pretty much covered from the neck down.

It was so traditional. It scared the inlaws.

Heck, it scared my family!!!
I think the priests should hand the bride a list of what is acceptable when she signs up for pre-Cana classes or picks the date for the Church.
I've seen lists like this in Protestant churches. When you make arrangements with the pastor for the wedding, it's part of the information packet you get.

One of my friend's moms made her a really beautiful dress ... she looked like a princess. It was purdy.

this is a pic of me and siblings on my wedding day...i love my dress, my mom and grandma made it and one of my sisters made the shamrocks that went across the top and bottom of the dress.

Our parish has a booklet for engaged couples which includes some sane decency limits for bride's outfits--this way, we could factor in the expectations of the church when shopping for a dress.

PS--the Vietnamese dress is really nice!

speaking as someone getting married in 2 weeks, its totally possible to find a decently modest yet fashionable wedding dress! the only challenge is that almost all dresses now are strapless (its the fashion), which can still be modest (mine is :D ) AND pretty.... its just maeks you cold for a january 1st wedding! :P

I agree -- it would avoid such calamity. That and have a nice white bolero jacket or elegant wrap on hand.

The Queen Anne style is one of my favorites and will be my gown of choice. It's modest and it just plain looks cool.

Okay that illustration makes the collar look a little star trek but they actually don't flare out like that.

You know where to find a lot of modest wedding gowns? Companies that cater to Mormons. I've inquired and they've sold dresses to Catholics and other churches, like choir gowns, too. But Mormons are very specific about bridal modesty, which up until now Catholics can't say they've done as good of a job of.

Something like this with the bolero jacket is cool, too. I want a wedding dress like this one. Remember those gowns Lady Di used to wear that were with bolero jackets? She looked so stunning!

I want to redo my wedding for my 10th anniversary...In the Church.
Definitely love some of those styles. Especially the Queen Anne. I couldnt find anything like that so I went Victorian.
