How do you prepare your heart for woship?

In light of the redicolous 7 page thread on jeans in Church, I think we should discuss something about 10 times more pressing than clothing - that is what is inside the cup, and not its outer appearance.

I try to pray in the mornings and read the scripture for the day before mass... I'll admit, though, with kids it's hard to focus before, during or after...

it's harder for me in the mornings...my mind doesn't cooperate with me then....it is just thinking sleep, sleep, sleep......i can concentrate more on prayer at night

I like contemplative mornings... Much holier than "I said for the millionth time, 'get dressed.'"

I like vigils and masses of anticipation better than I like morning mass.

At night I am much more focused than in the morning when I am groggy, rushed and usually not coherent.

I feel so guilty when I go to morning mass just because I have such trouble concentrating or focusing. God deserves better of me. In the morning it is particualrily bad because I have to eat a big meal with my medication or I am garaunteed to throw up, without the medication I can not keep a train of thought at all. I can not focus on mass, I get distracted by everylittle thing kids, noises, the perfume of the lady next to me, the guy behind me jingling change in his pocket, the fact that the plant in the back has finally been dusted, anything and everything, I hate it...... it is literally like having three tvs on blaring at you, you can't focus of concentrate. The problem there lies in the fast...... I do not always have time to eat a big meal over an hour before mass..... so sometimes I have to go without the medication, and everything distracts me. Those are days when you just close your eyes as tight as you can and just try and follow along.

....I try to go to later masses if I must go in the morning for that reason. Or go at night when life is easier.

franciscanheart

quite frankly music puts me in the mood.

lately its been:

"Jesus I adore you and I lay my life before you. How I love you."

that song. I love it and it just puts me in the mood. sing it over and over and then you just get in the mindset to worship and pray and its wonderful. i feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
