spathariossa
Christ fully humana nd Christ fully divine. Dual nature.... two fingers.
Hm. Maybe. It doesn't ring a bell but I learned this over a year ago so it is quite possible. It definitely seems to fit. I'll look it up tomorrow to see if that is the Orthodox explanation as well. Thanks!
Guest Aluigi
clerics are still normally required for sacraments in the Roman Rite of the Church if I'm not mistaken. if that was a scheduled time the priest was available for confessions, i think he was breaking the rules or somethin. but if that was just you caught up to him in the parking lot of walmart, that's fine i think.
Scheduled time, in the confessional. Interestingly, my Orthodox priest supports me getting absolution from Catholic priests until I am chrismated. I didn't expect that reaction but I'm often surprised by clergy.
Guest Aluigi
yeah, that's not the Catholic Church, that's just a priest in the Catholic Church. there's liberal priests in the orthodox churches as well.
Balthazor
yeah, you shouldn;t judge the church by the one guy that doesn't follow the rules
I say again. No Orthodox priest would be caught dead doing a confession without his proper robes and stole. It just doesn't happen. We have a very special ceremony before the icon of Christ for confession. Edit: Interesting side note. I've done the preparation for Orthodox Confession (though never confessed) and the preparation for Catholic Confession. The Catholic prayer book has me meditate on the 10 commandments. The Orthodox prayer books all recommend that you meditate on the Beatitudes. I just thought it was a neat difference. Scofizzle
Our pastor ALWWAYS weres a cassock....he wont even leave the rectory in anything thing other than a cassock...if you want to talk to him really quick and you knock on his door, and he is obviously wearing sweats or something he wil change into casock before he will meet with you.... the funny thing is our pasotr is a very large man in stature and he wears altar boy cassocks. he doesnt even wear the goos quality ones...just the cheapest ones he can buy......and we come from a pretty afluent parish and his family is very wealthy.... Guest Aluigi
have you looked into the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church, spathariossa?
melporcristo
Hmm ... so back to the first statement, a Jesuit priest at my school (Seattle Univerisity) still actually wears the cassock! I am pretty sure he is a Jesuit. If so, that is really cool. I should talk to him ... But on the other hand, a sister of the Daughters of Mary in Africa who goes to my school laughed at when she saw the priest wearing his cassock and asked why he is still wearing that thing. Interesting ....
spathariossa
have you looked into the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church, spathariossa?
Yeah but the nearest churches are 100 miles away. Plus, I find the Orthodox church to be more homogenous than the Catholic church despite the lack of a centralizing authority. There's just something unifying about the truth.
