what do you guys think about heavy metal christian rock bands where it is hard to understand the words to the songs? Are they effective?

Yeah, you guys seem to know a little about this stuff. If you want to hear a lot of hardcore/metalcore christian bands, just check out Solid State and Tooth and Nail records, especially Solid State. They have bands like Demon Hunter ( I noticed DemonSlayer that your avatar is their logo), Underoath, Showbread, Dead Poetic, Haste the Day, As Cities Burn, and Zao. However, I do believe that the members of Zao are not big fans of Catholics, at least from an interview I read. And another good band to check out would be As I Lay Dying. Oh yeah, and Norma Jean and Beloved. That should be plenty of new bands you guys can listen to, and none of them cuss or talk about bad stuff, but, quite the contrary, encourage morality and virtues. While not directly saying, "Praise the Lord", they are all admittedly Christian. Rock on :punk:

Beloved has broken up and Zao is now on Ferret Records after they almost broke up again, but is the interview you read this one? (warning to all: the interview contains swearing)

No, that is not the article. I believe it was in a Revolver issue that I picked up, and they said that everyone should be with them not those, and I quote, "dipshits in the Catholic Church". So yeah, that kind of turned me off, and it's such good music too! Oh well, too bad. But yeah, Beloved is gone, but you can still by The Running and their other cd, whose name I cannot remember because I have gone blank, but I have both cd's, and it's so good.

SoI don't really get what you said, do you mean that Zao said that people shouldn't be Catholics, but protestant instead or something?
If that's what they think, I don't know if I should listen to them anymore.

I just found another band who were anti-Catholic, an old band called The Crucified (broken up) whose vocalist started Stavesacre.

Well, I still listen do so-called christian bands, but if they are anti-catholic, they're not a christian band anymore and I see them as a normal secular band....and yes, I also hear secular music if the lyrics are not too offensive (so I hear for instance Grabnebelfürsten), and its the same with non-catholic bands. They can have their opinion of the church, but if their lyrics are ok (and first of all, if their music is good!), i enjoy their music!

Ah, by the way: What does Kekal say to this theme? I remember an Interview (in the Turn or burn, if someone remember the old days ;) )where Jeff talked positive about an indonesian bishop, and a latin title like contra spiritualia nequitae doesn't sound that evangelical ;)
Be it as it may, their gig in Chemnitz last year was quite funny, even though it was the complete fusion of electro and Metal...

So are you saing that you'd listen to an anti-Catholic band as long as their anti-Catholic sentiments are not expressed in their lyrics?
I also ocassionally listen to some secular metal bands who do not seem to anti-Christian, such as Mastodon, Dead to Fall and Killswitch Engage.

Was Jeffray talking about a Catholic bishop?
Either way he's performed with the vocalist of anti-Catholic "Christian" metal band Paramaecium.

I used to be good friends with Mark Soloman (vocalist for Crucified & Stavesacre). Our bands used to play together quite often. I recall one evening when both of our bands were in the recording studio, that my wife laid into him about his Anti-Catholic lyrics. He had many misconceptions about what the Catholic Church truly teaches. She attempted to set him straight and he seemed to be receptive at the time, but I don't know how much of an impact it made on him. I used to give him a hard time about his views on the Pope, but we were still good friends.

Since then we have been out of touch with each other, so I don't where he stands now.
