Diversity in America's Universities - A total Lie
So much potential for misquotation!

Last time I checked, students get to determine their own major -- thus deciding what is worth studying.  And how, exactly does a university teach students about what values to hold?  Shouldn't they already have a value system in place?  That's some pretty bad parenting if they don't.

Overall, that's just an overtly one sided article.  The author glosses over the part about how conservatives dominate the sciences and maths so that he/she can concentrate on how the liberals dominate the humanities.
Not at my school they didn't. That is, the science and math professors were very much liberals. Plus, there is far less opportunity to discuss politics in a calculus class than a political science class.
My school was mentioned in this article. I go to the University of California, Santa Barbara. And I have to say I agree.

Some examples:

UCSB has one of the biggest Halloween parties in the country. Some 50,000 people show up to take part in it. Most of these people are drunk, and most of the girls seem to think that their underwear and demon horns qualify as a costume.

I have only had one single conservative professor and this is my fourth year. He was an economics professor who rightly stated that Karl Marx was a joke and an economic disaster waiting to happen. However, all of my other professors have been completely left wing and none of them have been Christian. Some examples:

One of my professors was crying the day after Bush won re-election this year.

I've heard many professors make reference to stolen elections over the past three years.

I've seen whole hallways plastered with newspapers saying that Bush is the equivalent of Hitler.

Christianity is always referred to in a derogatory manner and furthermore whenever Christianity is mentioned people feel the need to bring up intolerance, blood libel stories (that means killing jews), and the crusades. Oh, and mention of pedophilia and catholics for good measure.

I've had one professor this year list all of the accomplishments of my former patron, Saint Joan of Arc, and then tell the class that these feats were so incredible that they were "almost miraculous."

I've also been told by an Orthodox Christian classics lecturer that it is against university policy to say anything that could be construed as supporting Christianity in class.
Are you serious!?

I might just fill out an application.

I'm going to SMU. Conservative CENTRAL! But mostly because their rich and powerful. But, that doesn't steer me away from it.

Being a liberal college isn't horrible. In fact, hopefully when this generation of government is slowly replaced we would actually see some more progress.

I don't know about you but professors are usually smart people...So, I would think that they know what they are talking about...

Alot of colleges are going to get a liberal class this year. Take a look at me and all my friends. Liberals to heart. Some are going to Princeton, MIT and recently one of my best friends got into Cali Tech! Good.

Personally I'm going into Political Science and hopefully to law school. Then I will become president and ban all religions and install myself as the new God!

Just kidding!

If you want to go to Conservative haven go to Texas A&M. There you will find all the bible reading, racist, pro-W and anti-clinton population you can get a hold of.

Or Notre Dame...to which I also applied!

I'm considering going to Notre Dame for grad school because it has the best Medieval Studies grad program in the country. One of the best in the world. Well, if I can get in.

I don't understand how conservatism goes hand in hand with racism or anything else. In fact, it is the liberals who protest for social and economic justice and the conservatives that outreach to the homeless.

I so very almost went to Boston College. However, I now realize that it'd be intellectual suicide to go somewhere wherein you agree with everyone, so I'm glad with the choice I made in not going to a Catholic school. If you need the affirmation, go to a Catholic school. I am confident in my faith, so it's not an issue. That being said, I think that the Church's contribution to formal education is one of the Earth's great boons, and the secular world is too foolish to recognize this.

Yeah, you live in California where even the republicans are liberal. You can't really have much hope that you'll find a conservative there. Just like I don't expect to have many conservative profs in law school out here in New York.

However, just to counter your point, many of my professors in college were conservative. My geology prof even tried to convince the class that global warming isn't real and asbestos isn't harmful. Where did I go to college? Missouri.

LOL...

Are you SERIOUS?

Conservatives that outreach to the homeless???

LOL

Yeah. That is why SOO MANY OF THEM just love medicare and food stamps. In fact, that is why they LOVE paying taxes for programs like such...Give me a break.

MANY conservatives go hand in hand with racist and are full of hatred. Sorry, but I don't associate all conservatives with those people.

My friend goes to Notre Dame. She graduated last year. Don't expect too many parties. And...get used to the "I came from a Catholic high school that was TWICE as much as Notre Dame" story...
