daugher-of-Mary
This Friday we had a visiting priest and students from St. Francis University at our archabbey Festival of Praise. I was helping to clean up afterwards and one of the Brothers told me to go back and pray with the visiting students. I went back to the Mary Grotto, and when I got there the priest was praying over people, and each person he prayed over fell and remained motionless for a time. I stayed in the back just watching...I'm not really sure what to make of it. The priest seemed to be quite orthodox and towards the end he prayed out loud asking that Mary cover us with her mantle, etc. Being that I come from a Protestant background, I was quite weary of the whole thing. I guess my question is, is being "slain in the Spirit" a biblical gift of the Spirit?

ilovechrist
um that's the term i know it by... and it's a very confusing term. i'm not the one to quote all the documents and official laws about it.. i'm surprised that every single person was "slain in the Spirit". must be one heckuva prayer!!! XIX
Question about being slain... Does it have to have to happen as a direct result of the priest blessing you, or can it just happen simultaneously?
aloha918
being slain in the spirit is the same as resting in the spirit....i have experianced it before....i dont really like the term slain though....resting is much better i think
