Thanks! I was talking with mom and she thinks my descion should be based on how close the convent is to homeĀ  That's why I was leaning toward Kentuky... Thanks for the "tip" though!
I certainly understand how that goes  Prayers for you and your mom!

I went to go visit them in October and had an awesome time!
Oh my, I never knew the the convent that my sister's at is so popular! :) I must agree, it's simply wonderful there... they're growing so much, too. Hey, if you ever visit back there again say hi to Sister Cecilia Anne for me. ;)

Ah, yes, and adding to the great list!

One of the brothers visited my parish a few years ago and coming back from visiting my sister this last August we stopped and saw the monastery. :)

If you're thinking about an eremitical vocation, check out the excellent Carmelite community in Christoval, Texas. I think their official name is Hermits of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel. You can see their website at http://www.carmelitehermits.org

They're Sisters of the Passion and Cross. Poor Clare Capuchin Contemplatives. I'm fairly confident that they are not affiliated with SSPX or any other dissenting order dispite their traditional values, but I am not positive. I have not heard back from them yet, like I said, but their site may help shed light in them.

They are a pretty cool order, but for one fault:

I am almost certain that they are sedevecantist (and as such are in no way shape or form affiliated with the SSPX). They still have some good information on the website, but just keep this in mind.

I appreciate the heads-up. The reason I wrote them is because I'm looking into the Poor Clares, and I go to the Tridentine indult Mass each Sunday (so I obviously appreciate the word "Traditional" in their name). I actually learned about them upon receiving a Christmas card that said a Novena was being said for my family by that order from a friend who strongly leans towards SSPX. I'm now more interested in hear back from them so that I can clear all of this up for myself, and decide if they are all right for me to discern with .
Thanks again.

edit: I was researching 'sedevecantist' and none of the three definition sources I consulted could give me information on the term. I'm familiar with it but do not know exactly what it implies. Could you elaborate on that for me, if you have time? God bless.

Dear Angela,

We have been in recent contact with one of the newbies from 'PhatMass'.Ā  We just sent her a message similar to this because we saw that she had inquired into the 'Sisters of the Passion and Cross'.Ā  We noticed that you posted a request asking where you could find out more about them.Ā  We are taking this opportunity to warn you that, although they call themselves Poor Clare Capuchins, their community is not in union with Rome nor recognized by the Franciscan Order.Ā  You may be interested in further references available at:

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  http://www.capuchins.org/

The word "sedevecantist" comes from the Latin "sede vacante" and in English translates as "when the see is vacant".Ā  Sedevecantists believe that every pope since the Second Vatican Council has been a heretic.Ā  Since a heretic cannot legitimately fulfill the Pontifical Office, sedevecantists claim that the Chair of Peter has been vacant for almost 40 years now.Ā  They believe that John Paul II is a heretic.Ā  According to them, all Bishops that have remained loyal to him are heretics as well.Ā  The Sisters' own statement that, "We are not associated in any way with the post-conciliar Church" confirms these facts.

St. Francis himself insisted on obedience to the pope.Ā  These "religious" are not a part of their local diocesan structure.Ā  They infer the support of an "independent" Bishop in another state.Ā  There is also a pretty definite possibility that their vows are not valid either.Ā  We urge you to take all of this information into serious consideration before pursuing any further interest with them.Ā

Prayerfully in the Hearts of Jesus, Mary, and Saint Dominic,

Sister Mary Imelda of the Holy Eucharist, O.P.
Vocation Directress / Novice Mistress
She did indeed let me know about their current standing. I wrote them a letter tonight retracting my interest, which they will hopefully receive before they send out the information they were going to give me. I informed the sister that I was by no means interested in diregarding my Baptismal and Confirmational promises to God and my Church by discerning with a dissenting order.

I'm sorry for any confusion I have caused anyone here by mentioning them. I had no intention of sparking interest in an order that was not faithful to Our One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

Totus tuus,

Totus Tuus,
Did your question get answered?

By the way, I have your screen name inscribed on the inside of my wedding ring. Sorry. That has nothing to do with this thread.
SOme orders I am currently trying to get more info on...

I don't have links right now, but I can find them again and I can also clarify specifics later as well...

Dominican Clositered Nuns in Louisiana (Monestary of the Heart of Jesus)
Passionist Nuns in Kentucky (I forget the Monestary...)
Carmelites in MI (Monestary of St. Therese and Monestary of the Holy Cross)
Poor Clares in Rockford (Corpus Christi Monestary) and Belleville (Monestary of Our Lady of Mercy) IL
Visitation Nuns in PA (Monestary of the Visitation)

In all honesty, I am trying to get a taste of all sorts of Cloistered life...
List is being Changed to the Poor Clares at Corpus Christi Monastery

Poor Clares in Rockford :hearts:

The Passionists in Kentucky and the Dominican Contemplative Sisters in Lockport Lousiana.

I think I may only visit/discern with three unless I find myself not called to any of these communities.
