Scott Hahn

the lumberjack

I used to live across the street from a lady named Julia Roberts. When we went to sell the house, a guy named Tony Orlando put an offer on it. :rolling:

No lie - I promise!!

Mustarde, I'm a little confused. Can you please explain your position? God Bless.

Sorry mustarde. Thanks point5. I just looked back at the quote and i must've read it wrong the first time. I for some reason thought you said "I can't bet he didn't mean to be messin with the church's beliefs" I really should learn how to read. ;)

Mary's Knight, La

although i'm not his biggest fan i've read a couple of things Dr. Hahn wrote particularly his book on Mary. and basically the claim that started off this thread is backwards he doesn't claim the Holy Spirit is feminine or womanly but that the feminine principle reflects the Holy Spirit. We must remember the other point he makes that God doesn't reflect a family, but families reflect God.

I could be off, but didn't Sungenis denounce JPII as the Pope? If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I remember one pretty famous modern theologian who did this, and I'm thinking it was him.

It seems to me that Hahn is saying that the Holy Spirit has feminine qualities but not necessarily that the Holy Spirit is female. I've never read any of Dr. Hahn's writings, but now I'm interested in checking out some of his stuff....Though I did see a very good program of his on EWTN over the summer.

Golly, some of you are so...human! God made us in His image and likeness; male and female he made us. But He is neither male nor female, though we refer to Him as a male because it's the only way we can understand it. God is more than our imaginations can fathom, our human minds cannot comprehend Him. He cannot be defined, not even his gender. Stop trying to put God in a box.

I was shocked when I read the first page of this thread. Bashing Scott Hahn is not too far from blasphemy, in my book. His ministry has helped bring many (including my mom) to The Church.

Read the whole of First Comes Love. I just read it recently. There is nothing against Church teaching in it. Hahn has received nothing but the highest praise for this and his works from the best Catholics. Ya'll are just misunderstanding it.
God Bless!

That statement is much closer to blasphemy than any bashing of Scott Hahn ever could be.

No, that was Mario Derkson. Sungenis fully defends the papcy of JPII, as well as the infallibility of Vatican II.
