aloha918
i am a catholic in a youth group with many other good catholic people....but sometimes at our meetings, although there are no protestants there, they sometimes make fun of them real quick....nothing really offensive i would think, but still i think that its wrong I don't like the whole catholic vs. protestants thing because i think that it can really make us prideful at times.....what ya all think

Paladin D
I don't like the whole catholic vs. protestants thing because i think that it can really make us prideful at times.....what ya all think
Agreed. It's one thing if it's a rare poke-fun moment, such as when me and a group of guys from the parish were putting up signs that advertise where we are (out in the woods), one made a funny remark about how we should have the signs perfectly level so the Anglicans wouldn't go by saying "Those beaver dam Catholics, can't get anything right!". But if your group is constantly making fun of our brothers and sisters, then that can lead to prideful thinking. If it's out of good humor once in a while, good clean joking... then that's ok. But if it's in a mocking matter, it should be discouraged. I repeated myself like 3 times.

People like ian paisley... jack chick... etc... then I think it's ok to make light of it seeing how if we think of the gravity of their actions and words, it would be very depressing. People like "Joe Baptist" or "John Methodist" who don't really know the truth and believe that they are serving God the way they are suppose to, shouldn't be made fun of. Just my 2 cents. toledo_jesus
I think it's fun...but only when they try to preach to Catholics and show us the "truth". That always gives me a chuckle because they just don't get it... Unfortunately I'm not educated enough to teach them anything.

It's not prideful... Catholic vs. protestant is the same as Right vs. wrong. And there's no pride in saying that we are right and they are wrong. It is a mortal sin against faith to say we are not right or to say they are not wrong.
So it wouldn't be sinful to say: "Ah those beaver dam Protestants, they know nothing. Bunch of wife-beating, yelling and screaming, Bible-flinging, so-called Christians! Hope they burn in hell." If you say yes, I'm going to have to shoot you. *Loads rifle*
CatholicCrusader
Other than the fact that the word used in the beginning is profane, and the fact that you say you WANT someone to go to Hell, then, there is nothing wrong with the rest. If you take out the part of wanting them to go to Hell and the profane word, there is nothing wrong with it. If you say with the Psalmist: "Let the wicked be ashamed, and be brought down to hell" (Ps. XXX. 18), then it is certainly no sin to quote from the holy writ. (Or Ps. LIV. 16: "Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into hell.")

What if I were to assume that you were a pompous, incest-loving individual who is an extremely hateful being and who is in no way shape or form acting like Christ in a loving matter? I will not tolerate hateful behavior from Protestants, Catholics, or wannabes like you.
