Trooper4DaHolyG
from ACC. We are classically biblical in doctrine. This simply means that members of Australian Christian Churches all agree on the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Some people would call us ‘evangelical’; others just simply ‘protestant’. We like to think of it as normal, basic, biblical Christianity (each of our specific denominations or member churches have full statements of belief which are available by contacting each one individually). We are charismatic in expression. We are ‘Charismatic’ in the sense we fully expect the Holy Spirit to equip and empower us as we all go about the work of Christian ministry: reaching people for Christ and making disciples. We believe and embrace the many gifts of the Holy Spirit but are careful to ensure that our primary focus is to reach out to others. Charismatic theology can become both selfish and self-defeating when it is divorced from practical Christian living, service and evangelism. We are contemporary in style. The word ‘contemporary’ simply means that we are relevant to our culture. We believe the Church should communicate in a way that will reach both those who are following God and those who are far from Him. The truths of Christianity should not be lost in a haze of theological jargon and religious form. In other words, we try to relate Christianity to the average Aussie in a way that not only grabs their attention, but that they might understand our message. We are churches who are pro-active in care. Members of Australian Christian Churches don’t just exist for themselves or for the benefit of their own members. They exist also to make a real difference in their own communities, as well as having a broader vision to impact our world. Members of Australian Christian Churches are heavily involved in practical care and community education in areas such as youth services, health, counselling, and addictions rehabilitation. Our members also have a commitment on a global scene to both communicate the message of the Gospel and to minister to the needs of our hurting world. why we believe in the bible is purely a faith thing, we know we must have faith in teh Word, because the Word is God. we don't try to substantiate or reason on human terms, waste of paper and breath.... ICTHUS
Yet everything I say gets pulled apart and taken the wrong way.No, everything you say gets REFUTED because your arguments are weak. Sorry buddy, but the ACC has been around for how long? 30 years? God's One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church has been around since Jesus Christ. The things that my church belives in speak for themselves, especially to any bible scholars. Yep, I would say that the Catholic Church would agree with 90% of the stuff on that statement of Faith. Some of it is utter bunk, however, such as. We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues which is the initial evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit.Baptism is NECESSARY to be saved, it isin't just necessary to live a holy and fruitful life. The things your church believes in is also the same yet their are any tricky parts, that are backed up by all sorts of facts and other writings. Those "tricky parts" as you say are backed up by the constant historical witness of the Church as to what she believes. Show me in the Bible where it says that Scripture alone is the infallibe rule of faith.
foundsheep
hey matey! hahaha, I know how to debate, and I can. Yet no one here likes too its a debate table, with no debating just debatable topics... When I first came here I debated, yet all I got was abuse and personal attacks! Then when I told someone their debating skills would have already meant they lost this debate, they said I was side-stepping that I am wrong, not a proper Christian and am based on lies. From then on I proceeded my own way, trying to be as nice as possible. Yet everything I say gets pulled apart and taken the wrong way. I would be very interested in having a structured, fomal debate with you. For the most part, I agree with you in the fact that many people, on this board and elsewhere, are not really good at debating, period. People equivocate, use arguments that beg the question, and commit other common philosophical fallacies. We all do this to some extent, myself included. As a matter of fact, he isn't on here much more, but I actually found Good Friday to be one of the better debaters on this forum, as much as he and I disagreed. He addressed arguments and did not use his conclusion as one of his premises (begging the question). So, if you would like, I would be very happy to have a formal, structured debate with you on these matters. You have my word I will not ridicule you or otherwise insult your beliefs. I will try and refute them using historical and biblical evidence, but I will do so in a civilized manner. Do you accept?
JP2Iloveyou
A little follow up, I was just doing some reading on current events in the world. I try to keep up with the news and especially national politics. So, I was checking around and I was reading a little bit on the Cali recall election and about President Bush. I also read an MSNBC article about Rush Limbaugh. Now, regardless of whatever your opinions are of Bush, Rush, and Arnold, you would certainly agree that it is below the belt to call them stupid, ignorant, arrogant, and other much worse things. All the articles I read had legitimate criticisms of these three men which I have no problem with. I don't agree with everything George Bush says or does. I certainly don't agree with everything Arnold says or does, likewise with Rush. However, in every article I came across, the disdain the writer had for the person he or she was writing about so covered up their valid points, that they really didn't have any. Instead of feeling compassion towards Rush Limbaugh for admitting he has a drug problem, they mocked him, criticized him, and almost gloried in the fact that he has a problem. With Arnold, everything I read called him some version of "moron," "stupid," "ignorant," or something along those lines. They said he is illigitimate. One person even went so far to say, "People are voting for the wrong reason. They came out for no other reason than to vote for Arnold. It was like the American Idol show. Vote for your favorite idol." So, all you California voters, in the wisdom of this person, you are all a bunch of idiots that voted for the wrong reasons. The point is that people have forgotten how to have a real debate. Making fun of people in the media when they have no opportunity to defend themselves is just plain low. It weakens our political system, it doesn't strengthen it.
