daugher-of-Mary
All the more apalling when a lot of people deny themselves of this right when it is so available to them.
Receiving the Body and Blood of Christ is not a right...it is an incredible GIFT! Sorry...I just felt the need to clarify. "Right" meaning that one has taken their first communion. Sacramental rite of passage to be exact.
IcePrincessKRS
Lately I've been "skipping" receiving the Eucharist because since I'm pregnant I start to feel dizzy during Mass and I alway keep a bottle of water and a snack (generally a granola bar) with me and end up eating or drinking a little during Mass so I don't pass out or something and I feel like if I go up and receive I'll cause scandal to the people around me. Because of Adrienne we usually sit in the back, so not many people would see me, and I know that because of pregnancy-health issues I'm technically not bound to fast... but even so, I'm not comfortable with the idea that I'm probably scandalizing someone. Theoketos
Hey, don't sweat it. Nothing sinful about not receiving - especially for a weekday liturgy. You should use this as an opportunity to grow in greater appreciation of the Eucharist. Subtraction is a great way to grow in love for things we dont appreciate as much as we should. I say congrats! - i know it wasn't your original intention but you should know that either way, the liturgy is still a mass. God comes to us through the liturgy of the word also. It's a lot better that you noticed what you did and are obedient, than to receive anyway. Mortal sin aint dope. namuste, -Joe
Joe you grow in wisdom!
