Mary, The Mother Of Jesus

This should probably be in OpenMic, but ah . . . what the heck.

I just wanted to see what Protestants had to say about Mary. I figure, they can't think she's all bad, even if they don't pray with her, to Jesus. I mean, at least we can say undeniably, from the Scriptures, to Mary: "Blessed are you among women."

Here's what Billy Graham once said, just to kick it off:

"Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated Christmas, and I couldn't help but think again of the Virgin Mary, whom God chose to bring His Son into the world. God could have brought Jesus into the world in some other way -- even as a full-grown adult. But instead He entrusted Him to a mother, from the womb onward. No wonder Mary could say, "From now on all generations will call me blessed" (Luke 1:48). " Billy Graham

Billy Graham seems to be a rare bird. So many Protestants I've heard about, when they focus on women in the Bible, seem to focus on every woman BUT Mary -- like they fear it's too Catholic to do so.

Mary's Knight, La

It is, lol the Blessed Virgin even superficially is a short path to Catholicism, 2 probably most memorable quotes from her 1 "all generations will call me blessed" and 2 "Do whatever he tells you."

I've come accross many non-Catholic Christians who avoid Mary like the plague because Catholics honor her and they've been told we worship her.

Like Trooper said. She'd be a great friend to have and it would be great to know her. Catholics understand that God's love for us is so great, that through Jesus Christ, we can know and have friends with those who are alive in Christ because in Jesus, death has no meaning. It's defeated. Through Jesus, we can ask the saints to pray for us, just like we can ask our phamily here to pray for us. God's kinda cool that way.

So true. We Catholics do know her, not only is she our friend, but she is our Mother as well. :D

It's so sad that they don't want a relationship with Mary. I mean, they say, "why have a relationship with Mary, when you can have one with Christ". But to that I say, hogwash. Then you better not ever speak to me, your mom, your dad, your family, your friends, anyone! Why have a relationship with ANYONE if you can have one with Christ. Why not just shut yourself in a cave and have a relationship with Christ only?

LOL!

That's not what God wanted. He created us a community! We help eachother. He gave us a Church and told us that it was His BODY! If we are all a part of His Body, then we should know eachother and help eachother to stay healthy. Does my foot not know my hand!?

To know Mary is to know Jesus BETTER!

Yea thats pretty funny seeing how Mary is also the most mentioned women in the Bible...not only is she all over the Gospels in the Acts of the Apostles, but she runs from Genesis to Revelations....

Genesis 3:15

"I will put enmity between you and the women and between your offspring and hers. He will strike your head while you strike his heel"

Right there God speaks of Satan, Mary, and Jesus

Revelations 12

I'm not gonna type it all, but read it and know that the woman in the vision is Mother Mary, her child is Jesus and the Dragon is once again Satan...

another funny thing is that the man whole started the Protestant movement, Martin Luther, loved Mary a lot and had no intention of stripping her from Christian faith, where in many Christian groups that has happened.... :(
