Guest jrob8503
chronological order -"Raised" Catholic -Thought of becoming a Protestant -Went back to Catholicism, tried to become more devout. -Currently without faith. I discovered that I never really thought about why I believed in God and couldn't find a reason. I agree with Catholic philosophy but not theology. Asking a God I'm not sure is their, to send me a miracle so I can go back to believing. Until then....? Strange, isn't it? ;) Edited October 9, 2003 by jrob8503

Strange, isn't it? jrob, We are glad you are here. Many of us have experienced that same "here it is / now it's gone" Faith. You are visiting a great place to ask those questions. Lot's of people here have had the same kind of faith struggles. Share your doubts. I'm sure there are others who have had the same doubts and have overcome them. Faith is a journey, not a destination. Even Peter had doubts sometimes, and he had personal instruction.

Katholikos
Born and raised Protestant (Southern Baptist) Became an agnostic Then became a full-blown, card carrying, atheist Then, many years later, because a priest who had fallen away from the Catholic Church wrote a book I happened to read, the Holy Spirit planted me in the library for days, weeks, and years of study, cracked my shell of atheism, and convinced me of the existence of God and His One True Church! Now I am an Industrial-Strength Catholic! :D Katholikos (even my name means Catholic!) Holy Mary, pray for us! St. Damien, pray for us!
willguy
Cradle Catholic (whose parents who are cradle Catholics, whose parents are cradle Catholics...you get the point). Suffered from CradleCatholicitis (a condition in which a cradler doesn't really know his/her faith, he/she just does it b/c he/she is supposed to). Became on-fire for Christ in 8th grade . Became on fire for the Catholic Church in tenth grade :D . Currently a senior in hs planning on going to the seminary next year (Cardinal Glennon College). Unshackled
Born into a Catholic family. Mother is still Catholic, Father died some years ago. Married in a Catholic church, failed to find answers to fundamental truths. Now a strong protestant and guided by the Holy Spirit. Interesting fact that I can see where Catholic doctrine can mislead some and guide others. Perhaps if aggression could be avoided and discussion encouraged, we could find some common ground. I doubt it!
