ironmonk
Whats going on-- this board is dead, or at least in a coma where are all the people?
People are reading... One of three reasons they're not posting... 1.) people agree 2.) people fear to step up due to lack of knowledge (which they should study up on before speaking up be there are a few here that don't bother to get educated) 3.) people don't care God Bless, ironmonk

Guest JeffCR07
I certainly cannot speak for all people, but I can speak for myself. There are a couple reasons that i havn't been posting as much as I used to: 1.) I'm in school, and dont have as much time as I used to, though I still try to take as much time as I can to check out whats going on in the pham. 2.) A larger and larger percentage of the topics in the debate board are issues of politics and, while I think politics are critically important, I'd rather spend what little time I have on the site reading and posting on issues of theology. 3.) Also with regards to the many political posts: as Ironmonk has said, most of the comments I would have made in such topics have already been stated far more eloquently than I would have been capable of doing. - Your Brother In Christ, Jeff

Guest Aluigi
slowness of the debate table is prolly a good sign, less rash emotional responses and more thoughtful posts.

ironmonk
or people are busy...
I think that would fall under #3... because if we are busy, what we are busy with is more important that what is on the board, evidently we are not too busy to read the board. My first statement is that people are reading them because we can see that on the main page of how many times it was viewed.... StColette
Sometimes I believe the subject matter of the debates determines how much the table is really moving. I'm not one to like getting into political debates, so since a lot of the debate table here lately has been over politics, I stay clear of it. Now If we were having a debate over say Marian doctrines or something of that nature, then I'm your girl Not saying that Politics isn't important to discuss, it's just not a topic I enjoy
Lil Red
sometimes i think the debate table goes in cycles. we have times where it's super busy and then times when it's not.
IcePrincessKRS
sometimes i think the debate table goes in cycles. we have times where it's super busy and then times when it's not.
I agree (in addition to Ironmonk's reasons). I know I personally try to stay out of most debates because I like to remain "impartial" should I have to edit someone's posts. Almost every time I do, especially if I have posted in the thread, the person I edit takes it as a personal thing and thinks I have some vendetta against them or that I am editing them purely because they disagree with me. I find staying out of the debates keeps that from happening as frequently. But thats just me. Edited November 15, 2004 by IcePrincessKRS
Azriel
Having been a member of phorums for quite a few years, it just becomes very obvious that everything goes in cycles. Besides, maybe debate is just dead because Don hasn't been around in a LONG TIME.
ironmonk
Sometimes I believe the subject matter of the debates determines how much the table is really moving. Now If we were having a debate over say Marian doctrines or something of that nature, then I'm your girl Not saying that Politics isn't important to discuss, it's just not a topic I enjoy
Politics are very important when they deal with morality, ethics, and our way of life. It is a Christian thing to talk about. That is why this country is so wacked because people have been raised not to talk about religion and politics. Because people refrain from talking about politics and religion is why we have so much abortion, ssa relationships, drug abuse, high crime rates, etc... If you want to demoralize a country and cause chaos, get people to stop talking religion and politics. People learn when they talk religion and politics. Politics = the policies which govern your life and your children's lives... It's very important. I understand why you don't enjoy it.... But many people fear political dialogs because they are not aware of the big picture and don't give it much thought. It's very easy to come across someone who has a wrong view and people don't like to be wrong, so typically those that know they're in the wrong get the maddest. Ignorance is not bliss. Talk, argue, reconcile, learn. God Bless, ironmonk Edited November 15, 2004 by ironmonk
