louisville
FYI Christopher West's 10 CD set on the theology of the body is now being sold for only $3.90! The origional price was something like $70. Some billionaire made some huge donation. Take this opertunity to spread this message that will cause so much conversion and understanding that is much needed in today's Church.

Thy Geekdom Come
It is my major feild of study, we are called to it...
Sweet. I really feel called to it...I know it sorta strikes a chord with everyone, but it's got Biblical theology, mystical theology, and dogmatic theology, all rolled into one package with impacts on counseling, apologetics, moral law, etc. All my favorite things...I feel very deeply called to do something BIG with it. jrndveritatis
I heard West give two talks last year. He is definitely one of the best speakers I have heard, at least as good as Scott Hahn. I really like how he upholds marriage and sexuality as something so sacred while at the same time emphasizing the awesome vocation to celibacy for priests and religious.
ur right. i think what most people forget is that TOTB also has an amazing effect on our understanding of the priesthood, the celibate life, and our conception of the priest as "in persona Christi"
Theologian in Training
In my preaching practicum class we had "surprise homilies," which means you have 10 minutes to prepare a homily on a topic the prof gives you. He happened to give me a situation of a Gen X crowd, who know a little bit of what is going on but you will be lucky to see them at their children's baptism. So, to drive the point home I picked the reading on leaving father and mother to become one with the other. I used that as a means of alluding, very generally, to a basic Theology of the Body. Needless to say, the homily went over very well and I was told that barring a few things I might think more about, it would be a perfect homily for such a crowd. Thought I would share...
