For a double murder? I could not possibly disagree more.

the death penalty issue is actually quite simple if you're a catholic:

we can't condone it

i don't care how many people he killed......

The death penalty is moral under certain circumstances, but I don't see how it is in this case.
:sadder: what's sad is that the number one cause of death for pregnant women is murder. :sadder:
Well I don't think he should have been found guilty. I do think he did it. Not a strong enough case.
What I find so interesting is that if we want to kill somebody for killing a pregnant woman we award the fetus personhood.

You are incorrect. But this has been hashed out to many times and I am tired debating it. All I can say is, Mr. Peterson is toast. I hope he converts before he dies. In any case, it doesn't change the fact that death is perfectly just in this case, assuming of course that he actually did it.

it is my understanding that capital punishment is only justified when society has no other means with which to protect itself. as such, it is certaintly NOT "perfectly just in this case."

but, if this has been debated many times before, then i am content to leave it at that.

I've been following this case on Court TV. From what I've heard, I believe that Scott killed his wife and his unborn son. The fact that the bodies of his wife and his son showed up around the place he went fishing -- and were said to be dumped into the ocean on the day he went fishing (who goes fishing on December 24th?) -- was the clincher for me. The fact that he was on the phone with his mistress during a vigil for his missing wife is a bit shady, no? The fact that he told his mistress that his wife was missing two weeks before she actually went missing is a bit shady, no? The fact that Laci's hair was found in his pliers is a bit shady, no? The fact that he didn't even cry when he saw the autopsy photos of his wife and his son is a bit shady, no? The fact that he didn't rush to the phone and pick it up during that interview (when his wife was missing) was a bit shady, no? Everything seems to point to him.

I'm glad that people have recognized little Conner for the human being that he was (and is)! On Court TV, everyone referred to him as a baby. No one was like, "That blob of tissue from Laci's body," and I was glad for that!

God bless,

Jen
The foreman was a doctor and a lawyer...I got the feeling that he was using his professional knowledge too much and talking about things that he saw that weren't mentioned in the trial...
That's my guess as well.

God bless,

Jen
