Socrates
Concerning immigration, there are currently too many immigrants (legal and illegal) coming into the country. This is not to express hatred of immigrants or foreigners, but immigration should be limited (not stopped altogether). There are too many people living and working in America, who do not identify with America, nor share its values (some who even profess hatred or contempt for America.) Such people have no place here. Many cannot even clearly communicate in English This is in sharp contrast to times past, when immigrants were required to be "Americanized" and demonstrate knowledge of and loyalty to their new country. A country can only absorb so many people of a different culture at a time without its own culture being drastically changed. And immigrants do take jobs from native-born workers, because they will work for cheaper. They are thus exploited by businesses. Many are ignorant of American government and are exploited by (usually liberal democrat) politicians to vote for them out of fear of being shipped back the evil Republicans. While limited immigration is good thing, excessive and illegal immigration can be disasterous to our country. I'm not racist or "anti-foreigner" There are a lot of great immigrants in America, including friends of mine, and many put us native-born people to shame, we just need reasonable restrictions. Socrates
I guess that's the only answer you can give. A simple "you were right; I was wrong," wouldn't hurt your humility, either...
Ah yes, I humbly submit to the mighty and infallible wisdom of the mighty CatholicCrusader! (For those of you who might be offended, this is intended as heavily ironic - for my real thoughts, see my earlier post.)
I Corinthians xiii If I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries, and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely; is not puffed up; Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void, or tongues shall cease, or knowledge shall be destroyed. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child. We see now through a glass in a dark manner; but then face to face. Now I know I part; but then I shall know even as I am known. And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.
