Stuck At Work!

Are you one of those people who will go into a business three minutes before it closes? Are you one of those people who will take your time, even if it means that the person serving you will be with you until after the shop closes?

Well...let me tell you, I can't stand those people!!! They come in right before I close, which means that I can't close my drawer until they leave. And that means that I have to stay an extra 20-30 minutes!!! Which means that I get stuck at work because I end up missing my bus and have to wait an extra hour to catch the next one!!!!

Grrrrrrrr!!! If people would think that people in service do have lifes and have homes that they want to get home to!!!

Sorry...ok...I'm done venting now...So...like I said....I'm stuck at work....again....

Yeah, I feel your pain..... <_<

Sigh....well, there's nothing that can be done against it... :(  :P

Something can be done about it. Just pertend that you have some mental problems, and stare at the customers while drooling. :D

That should freak them out, and make their way out the door.

I feel your pain. I worked retail for 6 years, and it would peeve me off when people come so close to closing time. Sometimes, it seemed that they would do it on purpose, just to bug me. When I worked in a smaller store, my husband would stand right next to the customers and whistle. They didn't know he was my husband, they thought he was some wacko, so they left in a hurry!! I know, it's not nice, but whatcha gonna do?

I don't go into a store three minutes until it closes. I have a policy against it.

You should politely make an announcement that the store is closing though. Maybe that will clue them in.

If you're allowed to....lock the door 5 minutes before you close. That way no one can come in, and the ppl in there can get the hint that it's time to hurry and go. I've seen some retail stores do it.

I feel your pain. I work at a resturant and i HATE it when ppl order at the last minute. Or they'll call and say "What time do you close?" and CALL at that time (of course now I tell them we close 30 minutes earlier so they don't do that, but I think they've caught on!) <_<

That means I'll be getting out late after all the sweeping and mopping, and washing and counting $$$$$ and...........okay, i'll stop now..... <_<

And i feel REALLY bad when I slam the window in ppl's faces......... :o

j/k!

I would, but the thing is that we don't have an intercom system. And it's usually just one person. I can't just not serve them, because the store is technically still open. It'd be nice if it worked, but it doesn't :( Not a big enough store.

I know how you feel!!! People can be kinda clueless sometimes. I guess we just have to say a prayer and deal with the frustration.

There was one time when we had people come in late when I was working at the Hobbit and they stayed out on the patio for over an hour after we had actually closed and cleaned everything. I came and took their coffee cups to kind of give them the hint to go away so I could leave, and gave them their check and they guy actually asked me if he could get desert!!! I had to tell him the kitchen was closed and everything was shut down. They finally realized we were closed and left. I felt bad, but my uncle and I were ready to LEAVE!

oh yea I know how it is!! So does BR. hehe I'm only one of those ppl who stay late if I'm at a store where my friends work. Like Hallmark. BR works at Hallmark & I usually go in like 10 minutes before they close just to chill with her, and I usually walk out a little after they close and wait for her & we hang out. but if I'm just going somewhere, I don't go in right before it closes.

I would, but someone would end up ratting me out...and then I could probably kiss my job good-bye!

Oh well....it was a nice idea, though!!! :)

Plus, some states have laws against that because in case of fire, the door would be locked and then you could have bigger problems on your hands.
