Should the political threads stop before someone gets really upset

I think the political posts should all stay in either one thread or left off PM for awhile. People are starting to attack others too much and it's just REALLY annoying, we know who won and lost the election and I am so tired of hearing about it. It's all over TV, news, magazins, the net.

I think we should lay off for awhile, it's really frustrating.

Ummm . . . in case you haven't noticed, politics is a part of culture. Culture belongs to Christ. Therefore, a Catholic who wants to have an impact on the culture must have a way to discourse about politics.

If you're uncomfortable, don't participate. It's as easy as that. There are literally hundreds of threads every day that i don't participate in because I don't find them interesting. Use your discretion.

If you're just upset about the fact that it might cause division, I suggest you read Chapter 12 of the Gospel of Luke.

I understand that politics are a part of culture. The point is, all threads are ending up political. It always ends up someone mentioning Kerry or Bush, it's highly annoying and I think should be a little more contained.

Ash Wednesday

Here here, BLAZEr.

Politics affect what goes on around us. If we have more problems with the political threads than with, say, "Bunny's Personal Thread! LOL!" or "Yet Another Message Board Game Thread! LOL! LOL!" then I really fear for our future.

I think condensation would be the best option.

Admittedly the high volume of politics can test one's patience, but the Bush/Kerry flaps will die down, and the only reason why it's still going is because it has been less than a week since Election Day and perhaps we are still in the habit of massive amounts of political bickering. :)

I agree, BLAZEr. If there are threads I'm not interested in participating in, I don't participate in them. It's as simple as that.

God bless,

Jen

I think that by Christmas it should all be over. May I make a suggestion? If you see a thread becoming political, stop posting in it. Ignore it, even if you despise what's being said, and eventually, it will go away. It will stop.

I used to bang my head at the Michael Moore board. Talk about learning to walk away....

I don't think that there really needs to be more than one. I think that newspaper articles getting posted are all right and interesting, but I odn't think that there should be mroe than a couple political threads. ;)
