Hilde
Yes! The foreign language of English. I'm sure you've heard of it. Additionally, I know some French which I had as my second language in school. [/quote] May I ask what you're going to use your degree for? I'm studying theology as well, but I don't have a particular career in mind. Sparky
I guess I know German well enough to test out of two years of it at BC. I used to be fluent in Dutch as well, as we lived there for about 3 years. It would only take me a few hours or so to get back into the swing of German. Funny thing is, when I started going to the American school in Germany, they put me in an English As a Second Language course.
tinytherese
Does whale count as a language? If so then I do.
the lords sheep
Dooooooooooooo yyyyyyyyyyyyoooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuu u sppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak wh-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllle? Haha, great movie. And Hilde: my original plan was to get my PhD and teach at the seminary level. It's the main reason I came to Rome, because it would be very hard for me to get a job at a seminary as a laywoman without earning a Vatican degree (and studies here are cheaper). This is all now up in the air as it will depend on what my religious community decides for me to do

Well, besides English, obviously, I'm proficient in Spanish. At this moment I am learning Latin and Greek(classical/new testament) simultaneously. CatherineM
I used to speak French and English, and then I fell on my head. I can still read them, but can no longer speak it or understand it spoken to me. The doctor figured I stored written and spoken in two different parts of my brain, and only one got squished. Marie-Therese
Well, I was once fluent in French, but living in the South didn't give me much opportunity to practice, so it went away. I can still read and write it reasonably well, but speaking it is tough. I also speak some Spanish, some Italian, some Hebrew, and am learning Ecclesial Latin just for personal use. I know just enough of these languages to get the context of a sentence or order food or something. LOL You know the old saying about knowing just enough to be dangerous...that's me.
