Ash Wednesday

I think this election has proven to be a huge shock to Democrats -- the talking heads (press) are going on about MORALS and how that influenced this election. You bet it did.

This is a message to the Democratic party from the American people: we want what you want. But we want morals, too.

Simply, most Catholics don't put their faith as the top priority. The solution is the Eucharist. I think JPII's declaration of this year being the Year of the Eucharist couldn't have come at a better time.

The Democratic party better realize real fast that morality is making a comeback in this country. They won't be winning any elections any time soon unless they drop their extreme liberal agenda.

I was listening to Ron Reagan Jr last night and couldn't believe it when he seemed disgusted by the fact that people were actually placing more importance on religion rather than science... DUH!?

I'm a registered democrat with Catholic morals meaning I'm a pro-life anti gay marriage democrat. There are very few out there it seems but I'm one of them lol

Of course he would seem disgusted, religion is treated as a backseat issue. I find it amusing that our society tends to downplay religious beliefs, while they themselves hold onto a form of religious belief: secular humanism.

Last I heard, there are over 40% pro-life Democrats, not sure how accurate that is though.

They may be pro-life like how Kerry says he is, meaning he privately doesn't support it but he won't defend the pro-life movement in the gov't. And that 40% is a little high compared to what I've read.

So what's your point? The majority has the voice.

You apparently didn't support Kerry with your vote, supposedly, out of conscience -- yet you spout all this anger because he didn't win? Your rhetoric and anger don't make a lot of sense to me.

Because of the morals, Bush probably garnered more crossover votes from conservative Democrats than Kerry. People are starting to draw the line as to what is an acceptable moral limit. Morals have to come before party loyalty.

I am a registered Democrat who votes pro-life Republican. I usually don't have to, because Pennsylvania is a stronghold of prolife Catholic Democrats. Many of the races here this year were between two prolife candidates in which case I usually vote Democratic. Depends on the candidate. :D
Unfortunately we are currently under the misrule of a proabort Democatic governor from Philly. :(

I'm from Rhode Island, the most Catholic and liberal state in the nation. I'm a registered Democrat who just so happens to be pro-life and anti-gay "marriage." By pro-life, I mean that I think that abortion should be made illegal. I'm also opposed to embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, and human cloning. Because these issues are very important to me, I voted for Bush. Believe it or not, Rhode Island has gotten a wee bit more conservative since 2000. I don't think we're the most liberal state anymore. But, yes, I think a lot of Catholics vote anti-life because of traditional ties to the Democratic Party. Plus, I don't think that a lot of people have really studied both sides of the issue. Constantly, they hear one side, and that's the liberal side.

God bless,

Jen
