And the excuses begin....
Had a customer in the shop a couple minutes ago who was a Kerry supporter.

I had asked her if she heard about Kerry, and she replies, "Did he win?!" I said, "No, he conceded"

Then she went on to blame it on 'mistakes' that were made with the minority.

Hehe....Kerry supporters will try every excuse in the book to explain away why Bush won even though Kerry 'did'.
hehe.. thing is, even Kerry would probably say " Just drop it would ya?"

She was just finding out whether or not Kerry won this morning?

Golly gee willakers. I think most everyone was able to go to bed last night (or very early this morning) knowing who our president was going to be. Was she in an Afghan cave?

Bush didn't get that big of a win. If you look at all the polls about the issues taken at the polls, they don't look good if Bush has a stays the same.

This thread is upset, Kerry is dignifted and humble and admits defeat, so lets poke fun at him. This makes me sick.
I'm sorry Iacobus.... I was poking fun at Kerry's supporters and the apparent whining that Mrs. Bro Adam was subjected to.

Because yes, Kerry's concession speech was dignified and eloquent, and the best thing I heard all day.

With the exception of the dinner invitation for ribs..yummmmmmy.

Don't be sorry, lol. It is just something I noticed, mainly because I wasn't getting it at school from the Republicans but when I got on PM I noticed it.

And ribs sound good right now.

Yes, dUSt, it may be hard to respect him, but you still have to, he is a child of God, regardless.

Actually, respect is earned. We respect his dignity as a human, we love him as a human, but we don't have to respect him as a human.

Just wanted to clarify.

It's dishonest to say that "Bush didn't get that big of a win" -- even the most liberal commentators and pundits couldn't spin the fact that Bush won four million more of the popular vote than did Sen. Kerry, and that this is a tremendous win by anyone's standard, since there was some doubt over whether or not Bush would even win the popular vote at all -- even if he won the electoral vote. He did get that big of a win, and it's time to acknowledge it.

As for the excuses, there can be no excuse. There are two things behind the gigantic defeat of the Democratic Party: the Messenger and the Message. The Messenger was bad because he didn't discernibly stand for anything, he flip-flopped on almost every issue, and any of the other Democratic candidates had more principle than he did. The Message was bad because although there were a lot of good socio-economic planks in the Democratic platform, the socially liberal agenda of the Democratic Party is totally unacceptable to a majority of Americans, at least 22% of whom voted based on "moral values."

The simple fact of the matter is that the Democratic Party must, first of all, never again nominate a person who even has the appearance of flip-flopping. Secondly, the Democratic Party must move away from the hard left and back toward the middle, or face extinction. This is a reality that Democrats must face, and I'm saying it with love and as a Democrat. The President has been re-elected with a majority in both houses of Congress, something that hasn't happened for the Republicans in a century. Anyone who tries to say that this isn't a plain and simple gigantic defeat for the Democratic Party is in some serious denial. The Democratic Party has to change its course and come back to the middle, or within a few decades there will be no more Democratic Party at all. It's time for the Democrats for Life and other more moderate and conservative Democrats to bring out the "I told you so's" and start telling the party what it needs to do in order to be relevant to mainstream America again.

As for the very many Republicans at Phatmass, I would hope that they will acknowledge that half of the country did go for Kerry, and that maligning them and making fun of them at this point isn't helpful to either side, and it certainly isn't the proper Catholic response.

That'll be all.

Estoy de acuerdo contigo señor. It would be sad to lash out at Kerry now, just as it's really sad to do so all along. Of course I don't like what he does, but I don't hate the guy, I can't.
