Tony
I heard similar stories from voters who've been calling in to talk radio stations. One guy actually showed up to vote and his name had already been checked off as having voted. This was in Ohio.
yeah.. Im in Ohio.. no they dont check IDs (atleast not at my polling place).. Some of the Ohio polls did have people waiting to "challenge" voters about their elgibility, asking them this and that, MAYBE look at an ID, but none of that was at my polling place. StColette
this is awful! they really should require that IDs be checked and this actually be inforced

immaculata
I don't know about you, Birgitta, but in my precinct, all I had to do was sign the card.. Didn't have to produce ID or anything. Of course, then again, I never did get my voter registration card in the mail.. go figure.. Yay Illinois.
thicke
I'm in Tennessee. Not only did I have to produce a photo ID, it was also checked by two different people. I just don't understand what's up in these states where they don't even ask for ID. That don't make no sense.....
Birgitta Noel
I had to show my voter reg card that was signed and they checked for me on the list. Then I signed the list and initialed my addy on the list too. I agree stricter standards need to be set!
IcePrincessKRS
I didn't have to show my ID, but I did have to sign a sheet and next to where I signed there was a copy of my signature from my voter registration so they can verify that its my writing. If someone had tried to vote in my place they would have seen that the writing was different.
luciana
I just voted about 1and 1/2 hr. ago in NJ and no checking of ID, just sign next to my signature phtocopy from last yr. There wasn't really a line or anything. They never really checked b4, it was off and on. Edited November 3, 2004 by luciana
Colleen
In Wisconsin, at least where I am, if you are registered to vote, you do not need to provide any form of ID. They don't make you sign anything or compare signatures. They ask your street address and your name. Anyone could walk in there, claim to be me, and vote in my place. The only way they could stop someone from doing that would be if they actually tried to vote as me after I had voted (since they give you a number and write it next to your name after you show up to vote). It was so disturbing, but what bothers me more is that who knows how much of this is going on? Who knows how many names these people have? Who knows how many fraudulent votes could be cast? The law needs to be changed.
