I am Furious!

So, today, I was very excited to be voting in my first Presidential election. This afternoon, after I got home from class, my mom and I went to go vote. I voted for Bush. As we were leaving, I remarked to my mom, "Doesn't it feel weird? I mean, they didn't check our ID. If you think about it, anyone could vote in our name."

My mom agreed. We went home, and didn't think much more of it.

How ironic.

Very shortly after, my dad came home. As he was going in the house, he was approached by a man from ACT: America Coming Together. This group is dedicated to defeating President Bush and Republicans.

So this guy approached my dad. He had a clipboard with a list of names (and my name was on it), who asked him if his daughter was voting today.

Curious, my dad replied, "No." Then he asked, "Why?"

The man said, "Because someone could vote for her."

Shocked, my dad said, "Are you saying that someone could vote in her place?"

The man replied, "Well, yes."

My dad then wrote that down on the flyer the man gave him and the man signed it!

Then my dad went in the house and called the police. In the meantime, before the officer arrived, my dad located the man again and asked him if he knew it was illegal to vote in someone else's place. He said, "Yes."

My dad asked him again if he really understood that, and he said he didn't know that. The man left.

Shortly after, the officer arrived. He took the information but said no crime had been committed unless they actually tried to vote, but that he would try to find the man.

My dad emailed the local radio station, too, and they read the email on the air.

I can't believe the fraud that is going on! Unfortunately, I'm not the only one. My state is a battleground state, and it appears that there's tons of stuff like this going on right now.

Someone could have voted under my name! They didn't check for identification or anything when I voted, so anyone could claim that they're me and vote in my place! This is so wrong. What has happened to integrity in this country? I can't believe this!

geeze...I was just telling my brother how glad I am that I don't live in one of those states...I bet you guys are soooo tired of all of the political adds and so forth. I'm in Texas, so that one's sort of obvious.

That is really scary about the fraud....wow

I heard similar stories from voters who've been calling in to talk radio stations. One guy actually showed up to vote and his name had already been checked off as having voted. This was in Ohio.

Ash Wednesday

That is what worries me about this election -- voter fraud. You have Democrats cutting power on Republican headquarters in PA, slashing tires, doing whatever it takes to get Kerry in, even if it is illegal and wrong.

I absolutely agree. If Kerry wins Wisconsin, I am convinced it will be the result of voter fraud.

I don't have to worry about that....I live in a vey intimate small town where everyone knows everyone else. When you go in to vote chances are the person checking you off is a neighbor or friend.

yes, on the radio they were talking about all that stuff.. Also, in Philly somewhere, there votes already on the machines when they opened the polls. The officials said 'oh, it must be local votes from last year, and that it won't affect this years' and they went through w/ using the machines!! arrgh!!!
