foundsheep
Is that why some of the pews are scratched?
cappie
That's the point. Children act as children, people with cell phones shouild act as adults. one priest I knew went down to a person whose phone rang during adiration and said, "you won't be needing this." and threw it out the door and then said, "you can follow it." I thought it a bit strong, anyone can make a mistake, but the older I get..........................

Lil Red
Sometimes, kids needs a spanking... if I would have acted out in Church, I would have had my butt worn out as soon as we left Mass... When I was 6 and 7 in Catholic school, at Mass with the teachers, I knew I could get away with more.... so I did.... I talked, I played with toys... I played under the pews... If my dad was there and saw that, I would have gotten the belt if I did any of that. Think back when you were a child... where there things that you could get away with when you where with your mother, but not your father. Oh boy, I know what you're saying! My father is a pretty strict guy (especially when it comes to church) and goofing off at Mass was a huge no no. When we would sit it the pew, my dad would put his arms behind us (kind of like he was relaxed) but if any of us kids started talking or misbehaving, then we got a "thwack" on the back of the head. Anybody else have this happen?

Anybody else have this happen? No, my mom would give us a pinch on our arms, right on the soft area where it would hurt and you'd notice it right away... I don't know if she meant to hit that area, but she got it and IT got our attention! When we got the pinch we knew we were in trouble when we got home. jmjtina
My mom always pinched us in Mass when we were younger. We don't have a crying room anymore. It's too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer and the voices are all muffled. Anna, I am so sorry that happened to you. Our new priest had to get used to the fact that there were children EVERYWHERE in the church. Toddlers, newborns, and with some coming from single parent homes. I think it taught all of us the virture of patience, and as one who came with 2 sisters and 3 brothers, we have always been close in age. We ALWAYS sat in the front pew, I don't know why, maybe b/c we behaved better and we could see everything that was happening. And the newborn would get passed from one end of the pew to the other! I'm praying for all you moms!
