CatholicforChrist
Well, the death penalty is a doctrinal issue, not a political one. If you simply want a place to weed out the anti-Bush threads (and even the anti-Kerry threads, not that they are wrong in themselves), then maybe that is a good reason, but I doubt it would be productive. American politics are futile because there is no Catholic option in any party whatsoever, including the Constitution Party.
Balthazor
Man Catholic for Christ you are so pessimistic!!!!!! I may be Catholic but I am still an American living in a Liberal democracy in which I have the right and the obligation to participate. Besides if you do want a viable Catholic option you have to take into consideration American politics and thereore a candidate or a party that would have any chance in American politics would have to be able to defend their veiws on more than just Catholic Doctrine. This includes and is not limited to the death penalty, abortion, cloning and a host of other topics. Besides politics is not limited to mainly domestic politics.....what about land reform in Guatamala, how about the situation in Haiti? What about the Genocide in Darfur? These are all issues you should be aware of and here is a place where we may be able to get a genuine catholic dialog going. Democracy and justice are for the passionate, don't forget that. If you chose to disenfranchise yourself you have that right but you will have no one to blame but yourself. Balthazor
