Sadly enough I didnt memorize her name but she was facinating none the less.

They discussed Halloween (just round the corner) and that Catholics are called to counterculturism.

We should be encouraged to celebrate All Saints Day instead.
They also covered New Age, Satanic cults, Wiccanism (german word for witchcraft) and an abundant other topics similar.

Anyone watch it?
This would be a great place to discuss it here.
I found it very helpful.

Peace.

I don't think the point is so much to forget about Halloween (I go to the most orthodox parish in the most orthodox diocese in the country and I'm on the Halloween dance committee, lol).

I think the point is to emphasize the saint-based nature of Halloween and take it back from the secularists and new-agers.

Halloween is saint based. It means "All Hallow's Eve." The origins are in fact from ancient pagan festivals, as are the origins of Christmas, New Years, St. Valentine's, April geniuses, May Day, et al., but the celebration was Christianized, as were all of these, and came to be centered around the saints. Lately, Satan has tried to claim them back again, but as we celebrate them, they are Christian holidays.
then why is there an all saints day at all?
All Saints' Day was made as a saint-centered holiday and Halloween was the extension of it into the previous night. It originated as a vigil for All Saints' Day.

All Hallow's Eve was in preperation for All Hallow's Day also known as All Saints Day, Nov. 1. Kinda like we have Christmas Eve and then Christmas Day. It is a day in preperation for coming events.

Yes but the Church views Halloween as a completely secular holiday.

A dance is not a problem.
That is not participating in evil.
It is the fact that we encourage our children (our future) to dress up like little goblins, devils, witches, demons with all the blood and gore and such and go from house to house saying "trick or treat".

She made a valid point when she said, "So if I dont get a treat then you get tricked? Now, is that Christianlike?"

We are to be counter culturists.

The most disturbing part of the show for me was when they were talking about the sharp increase in satanic rituals like animal sacrifices and even human sacrifices! That oughta make you think twice about Halloween. Scary stuff.

and don't forget about the black masses...that is scary stuff too....especially that black priests can tell the difference between a consecrated and unconsecrated host....

everyone just needs 2 take a chill pill

comon now.... trick or treat? thats just an expression just cause they dont give u a treat doesnt mean u have to trick them. its just a fun holiday where u can dress up like a scary monster and have a good time. Especially for the little kids i dont think its right to take this away from them

And that is the point.

How we are slowly desensitizing ourselves to things like this.

By all means allow your children to dress up like the saints and celebrate All Saints Day with dances and candy (not a sin)

It was pointed out that some would take your point Philippe, but Father and Johnette stressed that ANY crack(as in fissure or opening) that would potentially allow this kind of thought is dangerous.

While trick or treating is not a sin or anything like that it is the disturbing fact that too many children are not being taught exactly what it means and it has become too much of the norm to just follow along with the general public.
How many times have we argued that t.v. is too violent? Yet something like this allows a small amount of 'darkness' to creep into our lives.

We must be ever vigilant.
You should have watched the show.

Peace.
