I VOTED!

I think that not voting is the only option I would choose in the States. I wouldn't want my vote to support either candidate. Neither exemplifies what is in my opinion, Catholic Social Teaching. Regarding Abortion, Kerry is vetoed. However, right above Abortion in the CCC is this (under 2269 regarding Intentional Homicide)

[quote]
The acceptance by human society of murderous famines, without efforts to remedy them, is a scandalous injustice and a grave offense. Those whose usurious and avaricious dealings lead to the hunger and death of their brethren in the human family indirectly commit homicide, which is imputable to them. [Cf. Am 8:4-10]

Bush (and most other world leaders) accepts the murderous famines (along with a lot of other crimes against humanity) and that just doesn't cut it for me. I can't say I'd vote for either major candidate - so I wouldn't vote.

Umm the CCC is talking about FAMINE here. That is, when entire societies are starving to death and nothing is being done to help give them aid. He is condemnding those who through usury (lending money at high interest rates) and avarice (greed) lead to the HUNGER and death (through starvation) of the human family are guilty of indirect homicide.

So President Bush being able to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on war alone and ignoring famine around the world isn't a sin because....

This is debate table stuff, but it's not necessarily a sin because the war could have been just and he can't do anything about world hunger, and he may be helping it with those in Iraq, and most people don't want US aid...

Good for all you voters! Truly, it's so important to cast a vote. I'm just disappointed that I'm too young to vote in this election. Now all we have to do is pray.... and pray hard!

Mrs. Bro. Adam

You don't quite understand what a President can and cannot do.

If you knew how much a President did in one day, you'd be exhausted just hearing about it. They've got agendas based on what those who have elected them in office want. They are in constant touch with other nation's leaders. Remember, America is not the only ones that can help. In fact, America couldn't feed the world's hungry people by itself.
