Mrs. Bro. Adam
This is something that I've read about, but don't remember, probably cause I never really comprehended. Can someone help me, please?
Pio Nono
JMJ 12/27 - St. John the Beloved Mrs. Bro. Adam, I assume that you're speaking of the Sacrament of Confirmation. It's pretty simple, but it can also be seen as rather complex. I'll keep it as simple as I'm able. Confirmation is the "actuation", if you will, of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives. One doesn't need confirmation for salvation, since one doesn't need the gifts of the Spirit for salvation. However, for Christian perfection (to which we're all called), we need the gifts of the Spirit - thus, Confirmation. The best analogy I've heard is one that uses chocolate milk - when we're born, our souls are like a nice, tall, cool glass of white milk. However, we need to have chocolate in our glass to get into Heaven - that's Baptism. But, in order for chocolate milk to truly be chocolate, one needs to stir the chocolate in with the milk - that's Confirmation. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
