Ash Wednesday
I offer voteforjoe.com as another option for people who absolutely, positively can not and will not vote for Bush and would themselves rather have their fingernails torn off and rolled in tar and feathers. Joe Schriner is a cross between a Green and a Republican, and is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-environment Catholic who campaigns on the road with his family and attends mass daily. I really like him a lot, though I am leaning Bush because of just how heavy this particular election is. I'd rather have someone vote third party like Schriner or Peroutka than vote Kerry. The Church doesn't place one candidate over another but it does weigh the importance of some issues over others. If Catholics punished ALL politicians for supporting abortion, Democrats and Republicans alike would be kissing our butts left and right and legislating against it. We'd have a banquet of better politicians to choose from. Peace.
Guest Aluigi
Nathan, it's not impossible. What's that song? "I get knocked down, but I get up again, ain't never gonna keep me down" Even if it takes 60 years, it's worth it for eternal life.

Guest Aluigi
I don't believe that. Don't make excuses for yourself. Hold yourself to a higher standard.

jasJis
I'm just not like you guys. Sorry . . .
I learned I can't change me and it's not my job to change me. All I've gotta do is be open to God's love and love Him back. I've changed only when I stopped trying to change. He changes us in His good time, not ours. God doesn't want us to change our burdens, only ask for Him to help carry them WITH us, not carry them for us or eliminate them. You sure ain't like me and you should be grateful.
Guest Aluigi
because unless you have objective standards to which to hold yourself accountable, your standards are subject to personal selfish greedy prideful or any other of the 7 deadly sins skewing your value system and thus you're no longer holding yourself to a higher standard. a higher standard must be found outside of oneself that is authoirtative and from God untainted by misleading emotions. but i'm sure you've heard that before. pray about it. qfnol31
John, you gotta make a reason for your statement. It seems clouded in personal belief more than actual ideas of morality. Nathan, I think the coolest thing to see is when someone recognizes the greater good and goes for it, however difficult it is for them to see it. qfnol31
I've gotten mad at a lot of people, it doesn't make me right. Also, do you know anyone personally who's fighting in Iraq? I know someone who was, and he had no problem being over there (quite the opposite). He's a Catholic Marine.
