toledo_jesus
most witches I've met are scary looking anyway. Seriously, can we just get past all this? Nobody complains when they sell priest and pregnant nun couples costumes, do they? hmph.

G-Freak12
Yeah true, I have a friend who is Pagan and is in her religion refered to as a witch because all females are refered to as witchs anyways I asked her what she thought about witchs being associated with Halloween and she wasnt too pleased with the whole deal because according to her the way witches became associated with evil and halloween was way back people(mostly Catholics) used to kill witches because they thought they were evil and could do real harm... quite honestly in my opinion im not positive because i dont know much about the subject but I dont think they could of done harm back then because I dont beleive in carp like curses and spells
socalscout
Taking political correctness too far. People dress as promiscuous nuns and drinking priests and nobody bats an eye but have a person dress like a stereotypical witch and people scream and children have to pay. StColette
the way witches became associated with evil and halloween was way back people(mostly Catholics) used to kill witches because they thought they were evil and could do real harm
I wanted to speak on behalf of the Catholic Church on this part, It wasn't mostly Catholics Salem Witch Trials were headed by Protestants. And it kinda makes sense seeing that the majority in Europe were Catholic because that was the only Christian Church then.
azaelia
Yeah true, I have a friend who is Pagan and is in her religion refered to as a witch because all females are refered to as witchs anyways I asked her what she thought about witchs being associated with Halloween and she wasnt too pleased with the whole deal because according to her the way witches became associated with evil and halloween was way back people(mostly Catholics) used to kill witches because they thought they were evil and could do real harm... quite honestly in my opinion im not positive because i dont know much about the subject but I dont think they could of done harm back then because I dont beleive in carp like curses and spells
Denying the existence of evil doesn't make it any less real. Witches expose themselves to forces not from God (so we can only assume they are communicating with the Evil One) and invite unclean spirits. Curses are very real, and very dangerous. God, of course, is more powerful than any curse, but that doesn't mean we dismiss it's danger. The only way we can protect ourselves from curses and spells is if we acknowledge their presence and learn to recognize them so we can avoid them.
witches became associated with evil and halloween was way back people(mostly Catholics) used to kill witches because they thought they were evil and could do real harm...
Untrue. It was mostly the Puritans and Protestants who burned witches. Yes, they were overzealous and killed many innocent people. But they had a reason to be afraid. Real witches are evil, and can do harm. They just went about protecting themselves in the wrong way.

Thy Geekdom Come
I knew a girl in high school who was a wiccan and I asked her whether they called men wizards, sorcerers, warlocks, etc., and she replied that they call men witches, too. So then I asked about all those wizards, sorcerers, warlocks, etc., in the old stories and if they ever called men by those titles. She looked at my like I was an idiot and said, "no, I told you, they're all witches!" Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy...so you're saying that Merlin was really a witch and was called a witch and that the Morte d'Arthur calls him a witch but that for some reason I see the word "wizard"? She just rolled her eyes and got frustrated...I was just trying to find the etymology of the word "wizard"...
musturde
i think men are called witches now also. It may just depend on the type of religion.
cmotherofpirl
wow politically correct witches, maybe we should cancel thanskgiving so not to offend the Indians, cancel christmas to keep the pagans happy, and cancel 4th of july to keep the gun control people happy. I demand we cancel columbus day, since America was discovered by St Brendan centuries before the Italians!
