D0RK4JP2
Gday, I just had an insight into the selfishness of wordly deeds. There is so much time in our lives that we could be praying, or doing good works in prayer. Instead, we spend alot of our time 'busy doing nothing'. Are we so caught up in the gravity of the world that we fit God in only when we can, instead of fitting in everything else around things to do with pleasing our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? I am very guilty of this. JMJ
heyyoimjohnny
You're right. We should pray more, we should devote more time. But... He wants us to enjoy ourselves, too. The other choices certainly weren't bad in themselves; my family like to watch Joan of Arcadia together on friday nights, either that or I go to the movies and spend time with my older brother. But I think what you meant was these things shouldn't take presidence over prayer, right? Which is very true. But God can still be part of our lives even if we aren't on our knees in deep prayer. Just a thought...
AfroNova No Limit Soldier
For those in Htown we have our young adult group every Friday night on the south side. It's for serious - we don't play games & stuff like that. We pray the Rosary, discuss doctrine, theology, saints, apologetics, etc. It's off the hook. We have 1 entering the seminary next year. 4 others discerning the religious life. And that's out of like 15 people. So if you are a young adult in Htown & want to get down with the Church & the Holy Spirit & the Blessed Mother & the Saints, email or message me. and johnny & dork, you're right. everything is so friggin' worldly. we need to love the world, not be of it. but, more often than not, we need our alone time with Jesus. so many people miss that. GOD IS FOUND IN THE SILENCE! IN THE DARKNESS! Tell the devil to BRING IT
Thy Geekdom Come
Tell the devil to BRING IT
Ummm...you can have faith in God for when Satan does come, but don't EVER invite Satan to take you on! It only puts God to the test. St. John Bosco used to be tormented every night by demonic forces. His room would shake and people would avoid it because they knew what was going on and wanted nothing to do with it. One story is recounted about when St. John Bosco was talking with a child in his care. Little Boy: "I wish I could see the devil right now! I'd beat him up!" St. John Bosco: "If you saw the face of Satan, you would DIE!"
D0RK4JP2
One of the reasons i phrased the choices the way i did is because, if, after spending much time in prayer, the Lord would have taught you how better to spend time with your family, and to help you realise what tv you should watch etc. Regarding the Satan thing. Me and my 2 friends went out 1 night and we decided we would, for use of a better word, 'peev' off Satan. It was one of the biggest mistake of my recent conversion besides mortal sin. we would make fun of him, then something would happen. we thought we were annoying him. what happened in the mean time is that we got drowsy and started talking rudely and about alot of impure things. the things he did was just a diversion to get our minds of virtue so being impure was just an easy thing. After that i have truley feared Satan because he's just so smart. Anything that we do that refers to him should always be THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; there's no point us even entertaining the idea that we could ever defeat the prince of darkness when we ourselves dance with him whenever we sin.
Die and go to heaven, or at least purgatory? Not too shabby. Every day is one day closer to where I want to be. I'm not afraid of death. Dude, if I saw MY real face (the state of my soul), I would die of despair. But when I call on Jesus...
D0RK4JP2
Gday, There isn't a right answer hey. I just wrote it up as a poll so people could see what other people honestly prefer. *says gday to phazzan and waves* Like, if you put it like THAT it's rather confronting hey? Sort of prods at the old ego ay! Like, why desire watching stupid TV shows when all the knowledge necessary for salvation is found in God? And why hang out with friends if they bring you down? I left the polling questions open to interpretation - to let your conscious fill in the sentence more or less. If your preference doesn't fit it, write it in here for us to all read. I'm sorry, i should've made the questions better . AfroNova No Limit Soldier, i like your last post. If i saw the state of my soul now i'd die, and i'm nothing like the pure evil of Satan who, from the sight of his face, would die also. Sin kills man.... Phazzan
Gday dork, I am Phazzan, the wise one. You and I live in the same city, but we will probably never be friends because I don't like you. No need to take it personally though, I usually don't like anyone. Makes me feel superior and stuff! :-D Good day p.s. you know any good, wholesome Catholic girls in Brissy?
