azaelia
As many of you know, I haven't been in a good place recently. I have been struggling with this election, especially when it concerns life issues, and the opinions of fellow "Catholics" on this subject. I felt like I was having no effect, that nothing I was saying was getting through and that the only thing I was accomplishing was to push her further and further away. I was like this -> Last night I went to visit my best friend (not the one I'm arguing with) as St. Joseph's College in Standish (Maine) and we went to adoration in the chapel. There were only a few of us there, which was good for me because I prefer to be in a quiet, close setting when I pray. I was looking for some peace of mind, something to help me in this battle. I realized that her mind isn't the only thing that needs to be changed. It's her heart as well, and that's something only God can do. All I can do is pray for her. And I realized that the way I was going about the whole affair was the reason nothing was getting through. I was trying so hard to prove her wrong that I wasn't showing love the way I should. I wasn't concentrating on showing her the truth. The whole reason this election is so ugly is because no one is showing love, and I realized I was one of them. How can we claim to be Catholic and followers of Christ if we don't act like it? Adoration is a very good thing Edited October 21, 2004 by azaelia
Thy Geekdom Come
A beautiful thought. I think it's wise that everyone read 1 Corinthians 13 frequently for help with this sort of stuff. It's not only helpful, but calming as well.
theculturewarrior
I haven't been to adoration in like forever. In fact, when I first read this, I thought you said, "Abortion...it's a good thing." I did a double take. Pray for me... I still plan on taking my visiting friend to adoration with me. If nothing else, it will expose him to a new idea, and a new culture.
Oh lol, I ain't southern, I'm northern. I don't have the best of speech since I had my ear drum ruptured twice as a child, and I also had fluid in my ears for a period of time which greatly effected my speech. I've recovered a lot since then, but I still have some of it to work on.
