Paladin D
Last night at Religious Ed (RCIA), my teacher told me a few interesting facts. 1. Jesus was born and laid in a manger (this I knew), which is practically an animal feeder (this I didn't know). 2. Bethlehem means "House of bread", EDIT: it's Hebrew (thanks Raphael). 3. Bethlehem was the closest (or one of the closest) towns to Jerusalem, it was a town that raised animals for sacrifice at the temple in Jerusalem. I find this to be a piece of the prophetic foretelling of the Eucharist. I made a little comparison chart... Jesus = Bread of Heaven, Bread of Life, etc. Manger = Communion bowl (whatever it's called), chalice. Bethlehem = Those who make the wafers and wine used in Mass. Jerusalem temple = Mass, consecration of the gifts, tabernacle. Can't really logically put it in order, but it gives you an idea. Benedict
Sad but true. I did my confirmation classes at a Paulist parish (Paulists - Liberal with a capital L). Surprisingly, it was exceptionally orthodox.
Paladin D
i'm just glad that you were able to learn something orthodox from an RCIA class
Well my RCIA teacher is a former Baptist, was one for the first 21 years of his life, now in his 60's I believe. He's admitted that he's on fire for the Church and has zeal, even though he isn't a fast talker.
