Thy Geekdom Come
Okay, pham... I want to drop physics. I took two years in high school and was always told I wouldn't have to take math or sciences in college. Since then, my mathematical skills have atrophied. I'm failing physics. I might be able to pull of a D, possibly even a C...but maybe not... I hate physics, now. The counselor told me that the class was an historical/social survey of physics and its impacts on society. It's not. It's mathematical physics. It's boring and mind-numbing (even though I was excellent at physics in high school). I also highly doubt that Steubie will accept the transfer credit. So, it's one of two options: 1. I drop it and lose a bunch of money, but I save my GPA for Steubie and I save all this annoying stress. A "W" will appear on my transcripts... 2. I hold on to it and get, at the very best, a C, with will hurt my GPA and my chances to be accepted at Steubie, but I don't lose all that money... I feel like Jen in her calculus class... Shadow
dude, drop a class? OF COURSE, if you have the option
StColette
I know this class is really stressing you out, and I don't want you to have a breakdown about it like I did with Calculus. If this class hurts your chances of getting into Steubie and you're really unhappy in it I say drop it. You have enough stress on you as there is and worrying about this class and if you might fail it or not is sometimes too much stress to handle, believe me I know That Calc grade would have made me lose all my scholarship money and it would have killed my gpa. So again I say drop the class God Bless, Jen
Sanvean
You know, on an aside, as someone who failed Calculus II twice before getting the hint, and taking a different math credit that she still hates, I really respect the courage you folks have. [/quote] Yeah, but I'd only get a C if I absolutely aced everything left. It's not PM that's getting in the way...
Shadow
nothing bad or wrong with a C
Sanvean
In my program, at least, a single C can prevent you from an honours degree, which prevents you from grad school in Canada, unless you retake the course. For my roommate, a single C can make her lose her scholarship, and, thus, her ability to afford post secondary education.

Birgitta Noel
Do you need it for anything in the future? Is it drawing you closer to Christ, other than out of desperation? Be realistic, you won't ace everything if you're struggling now. A W is better than a D. DROP IT. Trust me, I've been there and dropped and not dropped. The dropping was way better in the long run. If anyone asks why you can tell them it was preventing you from really focusing on your passion, etc. DROP IT!!!! Not that I have a strong opinion on this or anything.... azaelia
Not that I know anything about this from experience, but I say drop it rather than risk lowering your GPA. If it's not going to play a major role in your future, there's no real need for it. Save your energy for better things.

I think I will drop it. Luckily, it will only take me down to 12 creds, the minimum to be on my father's insurance...
Brother Adam
I dropped classes in college. You have to weigh how much it will hurt you. I doubt Steubenville will reject you based on a C in Physics. I received an academic award for excellence in Physics in High School but dropped it in college also. I'd say if you were already at Steubie and a C was feasible, keep going so you don't lose your money. Btw - rock on! I look foreward to seeing you at Stuebie if you do go! We'll have to take a class together!

Oh, and Adam...perhaps you didn't read the whole thread...I'm going to Steubie...it's just a question of when... I didn't even post all the reasons I have for going.
