willguy
Oct 5, Day 5, Sunday, Glorious Mysteries - God allowed Mary, His highly-favored daughter, fortold from the time of Genesis, to share in the joys of Jesus' birth, the light of His ministry, and the sorrows of His Passion and Death. Now, God, not willing to discard Mary, allows her to share in the glory of Jesus' resurection, setting her as our Mother in heaven and as a powerful intercessor for the Church. Today is also the feast of Bl. Bartholomew Longo, who built the shrine at Pompeii, the same place where the shrine now stands that JPII will be visiting in two days. My only desire is to see Mary who saved me and who will save me from the clutches of Satan. - Blessed Bartholomew's last words
willguy
Oct 6 - Day 5 (I accidently called Sunday Day 5. It was actually Day 4. Sorry) - Joyful Mysteries "One day, through the Rosary and the Scapular, Our Lady will save the world." - St. Dominic "Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood." - St. Louis de Montfort "The Rosary is THE weapon." - St. Padre Pio
willguy
Oct 7 - Day 6 - The Feast of Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary - Sorrowful Mysteries That the Rosary is pre-eminently the prayer of the people adapted alike for the use of simple and learned is proved not only by the long series of papal utterances by which it has been commended to the faithful but by the daily experience of all who are familiar with it. The objection so often made against its "vain repetitions" is felt by none but those who have failed to realize how entirely the spirit of the exercise lies in the meditation upon the fundamental mysteries of our faith. To the initiated the words of the angelical salutation form only a sort of half-conscious accompaniment, a bourdon which we may liken to the "Holy, Holy, Holy" of the heavenly choirs and surely not in itself meaningless. [from newadvent.com's entry on the rosary] Happy Feast Day!

willguy
The Vatican Website has Pope John Paul II's speeches from his visit on the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary to the Shrine at Pompei, but they're only in Italian. Does anyone know how to translate them? Edited October 9, 2003 by willguy
IcePrincessKRS
Some websites, like altavista.com have translators on them, you can put in a chunk of text and it will translate it for you. I think Cmom knows a couple other sites...
willguy
I tried altavista's translator, but it does it word for word, so it doesn't always get it right (plus, it has trouble with a lot of religion-related words)
willguy
Oct 10 - Day 9 - Sorrowful Mysteries Most Holy Mother of God, as we see you, holding the Christ-child in your arms, we cannot help but think of how, when He was taken down from the cross, He was again placed in your arms. Remember the Church on earth Mary, and surround it by the comfort and protection of your prayers.
