willguy
Alright, tomorrow (Oct 2) I'm gonna start a novena to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary here at PM. It will end Oct. 10. October 7th (mid-novena) is the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. JPII will be at the Shrine in Pompeii, and assuming his speeches get translated into english wuick enough, I'll post 'em here before the novena ends. Okay, this'll work like the one to St. Therese, but simpler. See, instead of a new prayer everyday, this consists of saying a daily rosary, plus the following prayer (see next post) once a day for 9 days. I'll try and post as often as possible during the novena with various images and meditations on the rosary. Your imput is most welcome as well. Peace all and God Bless, Willguy “Listen, my faithful children; open up your petals, like roses planted near running waters; send up the sweet odor of incense, break forth in blossoms like the lily. Send up the sweet odor of your hymn of praise; bless the Lord for all he has done.” (Sir 39:13-14)
willguy
My dearest Mother Mary, behold me, your child, in prayer at your feet. Accept this Holy Rosary, which I offer you in accordance with your requests at Fatima, as a proof of my tender love for you, for the intentions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in atonement for the offenses committed against your Immaculate Heart, and for this special favor which I earnestly request in my Rosary Novena: (Mention your request). I beg you to present my petition to your Divine Son. If you will pray for me, I cannot be refused. I know, dearest Mother, that you want me to seek God’s holy Will concerning my request. If what I ask for should not be granted, pray that I may receive that which will be of greater benefit to my soul. I offer you this spiritual “Bouquet of Roses” because I love you. I put all my confidence in you, since your prayers before God are most powerful. For the greater glory of God and for the sake of Jesus, your loving Son, hear and grant my prayer. Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.

This is the first one I've posted to, but I always read them and I always appreciate them. willguy
Just found this online, figured it was relevant: To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities. O most watchful Guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be propitious to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness; and, as once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God¹s Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die holily, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The purpose of Pope Leo XIII's encyclical [Quamquam Pluries] was to implore divine help by means of prayer, joining to the intercession of Mary that of St. Joseph, that God might be more willing to grant our petitions and that he might aid his Church more promptly and generously. Leo XIII therefore attached to his encyclical a special Prayer to St. Joseph ordering that it be added to the recitation of the rosary every year in perpetuity, during the month of October. To this prayer he attached an indulgence, which is fittingly preserved in the Enchiridion Indulgentiarum. He also recommends dedicating to the holy Patriarch the month of March, with daily exercises of piety in his honor, and to observe at lest a triduum of prayers preceding the Feast of St. Joseph. willguy
Day 2 - Friday - Sorrowful Mysteries - When most of Christ's followers deserted Him, Mary stayed. She watched her son get beaten, mocked, humiliated, crucified; she watched Him die. When He was dead, He was taken down from the cross and placed in her arms. The child whom she had comforted in her arms now lay lifeless in the same arms. She watched them place Him in the tomb; she watched them seal the tomb. She shared in His sorrows, and she would come to share in His joy. She also shared in His sorrows so that she may share in ours. So the prophesy was fulfilled: "Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed; a sword shall pierce your own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." willguy
I'm posting this now, because I may not have a lot of time tomorrow until late. I'll try and get a bump in mid-morning, but I won't have time for any lengthy message. Oct. 4 - Saturday - Joyful Mysteries The following prayer was written by St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast is today (Oct. 4): Hail, holy Lady, Most holy Queen, Mary, Mother of God, Virgin made Church; Chosen by the most holy Father in heaven, consecrated by him, with his most holy beloved Son and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. On you descended and in you still remains all the fulness of grace and every good. Hail, his Palace. his Tabernacle. Hail, his Robe. Hail, his Handmaid. Hail, his Mother. And Hail, all holy Virtues who, by the grace and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, are poured forth into the hearts of the faithful so that, faithless no longer, they may be made faithful servants of God through you. Amen. In addition, this is the first Saturday of the month. Saturday is traditionally a day dedicated to Mary. First Saturday devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary came from various apparitions. Norseman82
The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is also known as the feast of Our Lady of Victory to commemorate the defeat of the Muslim Turks at the battle of Lepanto sometime in the 1500s. This defeat occurred due to prayer, particularly the rosary. (I went to Our Lady of Victory parish in Chicago when I was growing up). We used to pray the prayer to Our Lady of Victory after mass every day. O victorious lady, thou has such powerful influence with thy divine Son in conquering the hardest of hearts, intercede for those for whom we pray; that their hearts may be softened by the rays of divine grace, that they may return to the unity of the true faith.
