Guest Needs2BForgiven
For this, let me say I went to a Franciscan church, (though it was a different order) and I went to confession. Now, I confessed some sins that were on my shoulders for the longest time. Now, the priest, gave me my penance, I said my act of contrition. Then he started out with absoultion, but he did not start out with "God the Father of Mercies" He said absolution as a prayer, "I present this person to you lord, I ask you to help him... etc." but he did end it, "through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. R/. Amen." now was I still forgiven? Thanks a lot.
Pio Nono
JMJ 11/2 - All Souls Day Needs2BForgiven, Yep, you're absolved. The Church has a required prayer, but some guys choose to forego the prayer for their own reasons - we aren't in a position to pass judgment on their actions. However, I can say with certainty that you were absolved, for the necessary words in any language are... "I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
