like the last time i posted, i need help. i talking to the same guy that i was talking to about confession. however, we've moved on to Mary.

he had brought up matt 12:47- While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.' He replied to him, 'Who is my mother and who are my brothers?' Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

he used that passage to explain his beliefs that Jesus had other brothers through Mary and Jospeh, and that Mary was just another woman that was chosen to fufill God's purposes. i explained to him that Jesus was making a point: that whoever does the will of His father, are his brother's and sister's. i also said that Jesus was doing God's will right then and God's will comes before even Mary's will.

i've heard from other catholics that in the bible (more specifically the new testament) that the word brother, can also mean couzin. apparently this guys brother is studying greek and says that the new testament was written in Greek, and that they used the word "adelphos" with means brother- just brother. so now, to say the least, im a bit confused.

any help would be wonderful
thanks and God Bless
