Completely different topic but lol I know that Ireland had a number of Spanards move there and they married into the Irish families, they are called Black Irish I believe. lol History class from 11th grade kickin in
Nah
Black Irish refers to someone with the really pale skin , blue eyes and black hair.
The Spanish Armada stuff is a myth.

However Ireland has redheads because of viking blood. They settled the north coast of Ireland.

thank you Cmom! I courted a "black Irish" maiden two years ago and that description fits her exactly. I guess I'm not black Irish because I have hazel eyes and dark brown hair. I don't have really pale skin either, now that I think about it.. Maybe I am mistaken for Italian sometimes because besides being Irish I am 1/4 Cherokee. Shucks.. None of this explains why I like salsa dancing. ^_^
There was a lot of immigration to Mexico from Ireland and Germany. Moreso from Germany I think. During the Mexican American War, several irish troops defected to Mexico and fought on the Mexican side. They felt they were less discriminated against for being Catholic. :)
That would explain why alot of the "Music Hispanica" I sell sounds like polka!

I am Irish. Of the Fighting variety. I'm also Mexican of the "my family comes from there sort of" variety.

And Polka music is Polish . . . the reason so much of the Musica Latina you sell sounds polka-ey is because of the German-Polish influence in Tejano music dating back to the Republic of Tejas . . .

If you ever go to Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, watch the closing show, it explains all of it .. . pretty cool . ..

Well, I learned that in class. Of course that doesn't mean you're not correct. But I did get college credit for it. LOL. :)
