Mrs. Bro. Adam
Never fell asleep behind the wheel. In fact, I've driven 15 hours, after being up for 24 hours. Didn't fall asleep once. My mother and I were home from visiting my brother in Virginia. I thought I'd be nice and drive first so she could sleep, and then she'd take over. I'd look over from time to time and realized that the best thing I could do for my mom was to just drive the entire way home. The only time I woke her up was so she could fill up the tank and so I could get some food in my tummy (I got hungry after about 8 hours of driving). The first thing I did when we got home was have my mom drop me off and Adam's so I could see him, cause I had missed him sooo much! I got to Adam's, his mom took one look at me, asked me when the last time I slept was, told her about 36 hours ago; she looked at me, told me to go take a nap...NOW! Now..I've learned to never argue with her. I told her I was fine, she gave me *the look* and I knew it was time to not argue again. So, I went downstairs, Adam went on the net. I laid my head on his pillow, and wham bam, I was out like a light. But..never did fall asleep behind the wheel while driving.

BLAZEr
I don't think I've ever fallen asleep while driving, but I've come pretty close, in the sense of being really tired. I usually pull over and sleep if I get too drowsy. Don't like taking chances with cars, high speed, and my life (and the lives of others). Personally, I think Sun Flower seeds work the best. Usually after long trips my mouth is sore from all the salt . . . but they keep me awake . . . that and really hot chile . . .
Laudate_Dominum
I've fallen asleep while driving several times. Fortunately I was only asleep for a few seconds when it happened. I would start dreaming and suddenly realize that I was asleep behind the wheel and jump back into consciousness. Pretty dangerous stuff.
Laudate_Dominum
cool BLAZEr, I never thought of hot chile. I am going to have to try that since I tend to prefer driving all night when I go to far away places. Once I drove from Ohio to Mississippi, back to Ohio, back to Mississippi, then to New Hampshire, and back to Ohio. The longest stretch of continuous driving being 28 hours. When I brought the rental car back they flipped out and charged me like $1,000. For some reason I was under the impression that I had unlimited miles but I was quite wrong. hehe

Mr. Cube
I fell asleep behind the wheel in Chicago, and got T-boned at an intersection. I suffered mild amnesia and still don't remember anything about that day.

daveybe
my bro-in-law has a foolproof trick to stay awake when drowsy behind the wheel: 1) Take all money out of wallet. 2) Grip cash tightly in left hand. 3) Open window and put left hand outside. Andrea348
i've never fallen asleep while driving, and i hope i never do. luckily whenever i'm driving home late i'm surprisingly not that tired. i remember one time in high school driving the 20 miles home from a late show practice and being so tired....i remember blasting the music, singing my heart out, and freezing myself out of the car.
