Aloysius
alright i recently heard of a non-denominational church which believes not just in the presence, but in actual transubstantiation. they have adoration and stuff. my question is.... they prolly don't have valid holy orders... would God allow them to worship a piece of bread? or is there some chance that their Eucharist is real because the minister has the intention of changing it into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ? i would never receive it there, cause like yeah, no valid holy orders. i'll be goin for an ordained apostle who can trace their ordination back to the apostles. however, i am troubled by this church. it's scary they might have more of a percentage that believes in the Eucharist than some Catholic parishes, yet theirs isn't real? i hope God allows it to be real despite the lack of holy orders. maybe it's that thing i can never think of the name for but heard on EWTN where "THe Church provides the necessary components for the sacrament"... like just for that moment the minister is applied valid holy orders through the supernatural side of the Church) i donno, thoughts? Dave
If they're not validly ordained, then there's no Real Presence, no matter how much they believe otherwise. Sorry. :(
cmotherofpirl
A priest is ordained by a bishop, who was ordained by a bishop, who was ordained by a bishop et al, all the way back to Jesus. Transubstantiation can only be done bya validly ordained priest.
ICTHUS
Well it might be an excellent stepping stone for the entire congregation to come home to Rome.
JP2Iloveyou
Also, we are responsible for the amount of truth we posess. We as Catholics believe we have the fullness of truth and it would be gravely sacriligious to worship this piece of bread in this church since it was not validly consecrated. However, the members of this church who do not know any better are not as responsible as we would be. That's a major doctrinal point down towards reunion with more of our separated brothers and sisters in baptism.
Aloysius
i just thought this might tie in to last weeks readings, where those who weren't there received the gift of prophesying anyway very good point about their culpability, JPII, that makes me feel a lot better about them
