Andrea348
As I was going to classes today, there were two different trucks continually driving through campus today. One had pictures of aborted fetus' on the sides and back saying things like God have mercy on us and the words Kerry Edwards with a poison sign. The other truck had stuff about gay marriage, the ten commandments, and abortion...again totally dissing Kerry Edwards. It was truly sickening. Everyone agreed no matter who they were voting for. I am a Bush supporter, but how do these other Bush supporters think that this will help the Bush campaign? I don't get it....
Thy Geekdom Come
Sometimes it is taken to a level which repulses people against them, but I agree with Fr. Frank Pavone, head of Priests for Life, when he says, "America will not reject abortion until America sees abortion."

Did you feel like you didn't want to look at these images? I hope so. However, every day we allow abortion clinics to operate we are effectively looking the other way. The images are there and they are real. They're just usually covered up by cinderblock walls, paint and plaster.
Lil Red
well said, kilroy!
cmotherofpirl
Maybe if America SEES sliced and diced babies they won't be so willing to support it. MAYBE they will be so upset they will finally "get it"!
1337 k4th0l1x0r
It reminds me of a sign that's up on the interstate near where I live. It says "Abortion is sin." The only problem with it is that most people who believe in sin already believe that abortion is wrong. There's a kind of habit of using language that effectively preaches to the choir. A better approach in the idea behind the message and the language used is often better.
Ash Wednesday
To be honest, it shocks me more that this would be seen on a college campus in the first place....
track2004
All sorts of crazy stuff happens on college campuses. There is routinely a van that drives around mine handing out condoms and the like on Thurs/ Fri/ Sat nights, but then today there were about fifteen very nice gentlemen (in their 60s and 70s) handing out Gideon Bibles to the students. Just because it's a college I'm not all too suprised they could do that. It's more plausible on campus than in the business district, if you ask me. Ash Wednesday
Let me put it this way -- if it was students doing it, yes I would be surprised. What I was getting at was a student viewpoint from the far right being broadcast on campus -- where I live everyone here is very liberal and you would not see that. At all. We have had some right wing nutcases on campus but they weren't students. The students here are mostly left wing nutcases.
Thomas Michael
Sometimes it is taken to a level which repulses people against them, but I agree with Fr.
I do agree with that, but these people who plaster the aborted-fetus photos on the sides of trucks are being very irresponsible and inconsiderate in getting the message out. These photos should NEVER be displayed where young children might see them. Hand them out in full-color brochures and flyers, and only to adults and teens. Why traumatize the already-born in our efforts to protect the unborn?
toledo_jesus
For a good indicator of what is right or wrong, see if it makes a child cry. kind of harsh, but we should make use of it. People pay attention when children cry.
XIX
I take Scott Klusendorf's position: the images need to be used, but people need to be given a fair warning and as far as what they are about to see.
socalscout
I hate seeing the images but then again I am pro-life and should be repulsed by them. I guess they are necessary though. Showing the images can have a counter effect if it is shoved in one's face. I am not an expert but it is the pro-choice defintion of personhood that applies value to life. If their idea of a person is not that baby we see in the abortion pictures then it does no good to show them. We have to find a way to show that unborn baby is as much a "person" as a newborn. I don't know how that is done. Maybe showing life in the womb but I'm sure that has been done umpteen times. I would imagine lots of prayer would be warranted either way. Now I'm depressed. Gotta go hug my kids.
