IcePrincessKRS
Yeah, they really are. We really only get such top-of-the-line machines because Matt has to use them for work. Those particular models are really pretty expensive (if it weren't for the tax-deduction thing we probably wouldn't have been able to afford them)... you can get a lower model for quite a bit less and its still a great machine, and Dell always has deals about free upgrades and stuff. Just so long as you don't get a Toshiba or a Compaq, though.... ugh.

Andrea348
I've got a Dell Desktop. I bought it at the completion of my freshman year in college. If I was doing it over again, I would buy a laptop because some of my classes require our notes be typed and it would be great if I could just type them right in during class. Theoketos
Unless you are really into graphics or video games, then a laptop is what you want. And if you have the money laptops can match the processor speed to a ridiculous point
Theologian in Training
im starting to like laptops
It primarily depends upon what you are going to use it for. If you are going to use it to take notes, bring to class, and use around the house, then the portability of a laptop is better. On the other hand, if you are content with a computer staying in one place, getting more for your money, and more accessibility in upgrading, then a desktop would be better. Ultimately, it depends on what you are going to use it for, what you want it to do, and how much you are willing to spend. As with any purchase the more you spend the more you get, quite simply, you get what you pay for. God Bless

Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Getting a used laptop is actually a pretty good deal... I've had a couple of compaqs and now I have a nice little IBM... They have all been really nice and my last compaq started getting slow, but it had very little memory or disk space... I'm really likeing this IBM... and they all xcost about $500 each... and theyt came with an operationg system, and the older ones seems to be smaller and a bit lighter than what I've seen... Maybe I'm biased... never had a new laptop to play with

Paladin D
I don't own a laptop, though my parents and older brother do. I love both desktops and laptops, but I prefer a nice old desktop. Though if I were traveling or wanted to be more mobile, I'd want a laptop. Laptops aren't the best for gaming.
