Good Friday
Tuesday Morning By Melissa Etheridge 10:03 on a Tuesday morning In the fall of an American dream A man is doing what he knows is right On flight 93 Loved his mom and he loved his dad Loved his home and he loved his man But on that bloody Tuesday morning He died an American CHORUS Now you cannot change this You can't erase this You can't pretend this is not the truth Even though he could not marry Or teach your children in our schools Because who he wants to love Is breaking your God's rules He stood up on a Tuesday morning In the terror he was brave And he made his choice and without a doubt A hundred lives he must have saved CHORUS And the things you might take for granted Your inalienable rights Some might choose to deny him Even though he gave his life Can you live with yourself in the land of the free And make him less of a hero than the other three Well it might begin to change you In a field in Pennsylvania CHORUS Stand up America Hear the bell now as it tolls Wake up America It's Tuesday morning Let's roll CHORUS

Dave
Whoa ... y'all missed something. The song deals with gay rights ... the hero referred to in the song happens to be gay. Notice these lines ...
Now you cannot change this You can't erase this You can't pretend this is not the truth Even though he could not marry Or teach your children in our schools Because who he wants to love Is breaking your God's rules
The gay lifestyle is obviously trying to be promoted here. Careful!

Ash Wednesday
Yeah, with the exception of the pro-gay marriage reference (this is Melissa Ethridge, after all.) the lyrics otherwise are nice.
IcePrincessKRS
I caught the reference as soon as I read it. I agree with Ash, its a nice salute to the brave act the man did... I just don't think using 9/11 to promote gay rights is right.

But we should all say a prayer for Miss Etheridge just the same. She announced today that she is battling breast cancer. I wish that on no one. -_-
IcePrincessKRS
I hadn't heard that. I will pray for her. I wouldn't wish it on anyone either. A friend of my mother's just found out she has breast cancer, and my 22 year old sister in law just found a lump on her breast last week (we'r praying that its not cancer). Its scary. Guest Aluigi
I will also pray for this man who died a hero on 9/11. May God grant him mercy

Good Friday
I caught the reference as soon as I read it. I agree with Ash, its a nice salute to the brave act the man did... I just don't think using 9/11 to promote gay rights is right.
First, Melissa Etheridge isn't using 9/11 to promote gay rights -- she's pointing out what should already be obvious, that an American hero is thought less of and was denied the same rights as all other Americans simply because he was gay. And he isn't the only one, there's also Fr. Mychal Judge and the countless, unnamed gay men and women who have died in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, who will never be acknowledged because of our "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. They can die for us, but they can't tell us who they are. Secondly, I suppose it's perfectly okay for President Bush to use 9/11 to promote a second term in office, right?
