Piccoli Fiori JMJ
The NEW Shelly and Angie Show Allright... This is because our Original show died in CA land. We thought we would link back to the old show (reruns) because not all the topics were finished out and many of the posts were not read. They are a good read! We didn't go through all Seven Sacraments, but we will finish them out after this topic! But we will continue our show starting with what we left off with... Sacramentals! Yes! They are most fabulous! And now we will go on with our show! Shelly and I are the main hosts, but when we aren't here, anyone may substitute for us! We will have any guests on our show, and anyone can post here! Shelly is not on currently, so I will host the show for a while! Let's get things started! :band:

Piccoli Fiori JMJ
I guess I have to get things started and Shelly is on vaction now, so I'm going to need some help and a lot of enthusatic people! Sacramentals, anyone? I'm sure you have plenty of them! What is a sacramental you may ask? According the the CCC sacramentals "are sacred signs which bear a resemblance to the sacraments. They signify effects, particulary of a spiritual nature, which are obtained through the intercession of the Church. By them men are disposed to recieve the cheif effect of the sacraments, and various occasions in life are rendered holy." (1667) There are various forms of sacramentals as well! Blessing are to come first, and that includes special blessings called consecration (ie Consecration to the Immaculate Heart ) These consecrations are not the same as liturgical or religious consecrations though... Another form is exorcism where one is blessed in order to remove the power of the Evil One over them. (1671-73) Most common forms of Sacramentals are part of popular piety and popular devotions in the Church. These things include "veneration of relics, visits to sanctuaries, pilgrimages, processions, the satations of the cross, religious dances, the Holy Rosary, medals, etc." (1674) These expressions "extend the liturgurgical life of the Church, but do not replace it. They 'should be so drawn up that they harmonize with the liturgical seasons, accord with the sacred liturgy, are in some way derived fromit and lead the people to it, since in fact the liturgy by its very nature is far superior to any of them.'" (1675) Pastoral discernment is needed to make sure these devotions are correct and that they are not taken to an extreme. It is also needed to support the devotions along with helping the faithful to advance in their knowledge of the mystery of Christ. (1676) I think I went a little too in depth there, but that is basically what sacramentals are!
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
I know many people are very familiar with the Holy Rosary and because it is such a wonderful sacramental and a beautiful gift from Our Lady! I have linked up to Jennie's (StColette) tract on the Holy Rosary. Here is her awesome tract! It's just about anything you would eveer need to know about the Rosary! This is also a thread in the Word Board about praying the Rosary and why and how as well.. Today is also the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary! I ask that sometime today that you will pray a Rosary sometime today! If possiable pray all 20 mysteries, but if you are on a time crunch, at least try to get in one decade today!
